Detailed study on media panel soon: Badu

Minister of State for Information and Communications, Dilendra Prasad Badu has said that a taskforce would be constituted to carry out detailed study regarding the process of formation of the Media Commission and the topic of right to information.

Speaking at a discussion programme on the draft of the Bill Concerning the Right to Information organised at the Ministry of Information and Communications on Sunday, state Minister Badu said that the Bill on this topic would be tabled in the current session of the Parliament on the basis of the taskforce’s recommendation.

He said the taskforce to be constituted would organise discussion on the topic of the Media Commission and the right to information from village to centre in a transparent manner, would take advice of experts and formulate the Bill on the basis of the recommendations received.

He expressed the belief that this arrangement would help make the right to information legally secure.

The High Level Media Commission in its report submitted to the government has asked the government to constitute a high level media commission for professional development of media sector of the country.
