UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal Saturday said his party was committed to constitutional monarchy, saying the demands of republicanism were plain hogwash in the contemporary political scenario.
Addressing a media gathering in Biratnagar, the UML leader alleged that the Maoists were trying to defraud people by floating the demand of republicanism.
Reports quoting Nepal said that the UML is convinced that the best outlet to the crisis facing the country lies within the roadmap announced by the party recently.
The UML leader insisted that the party never provoked the students to chant pro-republicanism slogans. “Republicanism is simply not our demand and we have no liking for it,” he said adding, “Our party holds that an all-party government can do away with the problems existing in the mainstream politics,” maintained he.
Nepal was of the view that an inclusive government, also representing the Maoists, can only act towards ending the crisis. Nepalnews.com mk Jan 17
