Speaking at a programme organised at the UML central office, Balkhu, on Wednesday, Nepal said, “The delay in issuing the interim constitution is worrisome. There should not be any more delay as the UN monitors have started arriving here for arms management and the process to rope in former Gurkhas has also begun.”
He said the Prime Minister should inform the allies as to where the arms management process stands at the moment. Saying that his parties had earlier pointed out the flaws in the interim constitution that are now being widely talked about, Nepal said the eight parties should, however, go for the draft that was finalised on December 16.
The eight parties, according to Nepal, should once hold a meeting to fix the date for promulgation of the interim constitution. He informed that he had already talked to some leaders including Maoist chairman Prachanda and Nepali Congress (Democratic) Sher Bahadur Deuba for a meeting.
The UML general secretary also urged the Maoists not to hinder the reinstatement of police posts and return of VDC secretaries in the villages as this is necessary to make preparations for constituent assembly polls.
