Denmark has set aside 815,000 US dollars in emergency assistance  for 100,000 Bhutanese refugees living in six camps in Jhapa and Morang, AFP said quoting Danish Foreign Minister Per Stig Moeller.

“There are large number of refugees in many developing countries, who represent a burden that is too much for them to manage,” Moeller said.

Moeller said it was important for supporting countries like Nepal so that it did not “collapse and start producing new refugees.”

The Danish assistance comes as donors develop aid fatigue to fund the refugee upkeep in the camps for more than a decade.

Nepal and Bhutan have not made much headway in repatriating the refugees of Nepali ethnicity despite several rounds of ministerial level talks.
