Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Tek Bahadur Dangi, has started his work from Sunday following the order of the Applet Court.

A joint bench of judges of the Applet Court, Ali Akbar Mikarani and Atma Ram Bhattrai, issued an interim order in the name of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and executive committee of NTB not to deprive Dangi from continuing his job at the office.

In a writ petition filed at the Court, Dangi claimed that he was selected from open competition for the top post of the NTB in 2002 for tenure of four years, so he must be allowed to work till his tenure expires.

Dangi had not been able to work following the protest of Democratic Tourism Society against him saying he had assisted the royal regime and worked against the Jana Andolan (People’s movement).

Commenting on the decision of the Court, Dangi said that the victory was in favour of rule of law, adding, “I moved to the court not for my personal benefit, but for the system.”

After being reinstated to his post, Dangi told Nepalnews that now he will concentrate his attention for the development of tourism sector of the country.

Likewise the 108th meeting of Executive Committee of the NTB has reinstated Subash Nirola, Director- TR & RD Department. According to a press release issued by the NTB, he has resumed his office from today.
