The Children as Zone of Peace (CZOP) has appealed to the agitating teachers to respect children’s right to education.
On the second day of indefinite strike in schools, the CZOP issued a statement stating that its serious attention was drawn towards violation of fundamental rights of more than seven million children to read and write regularly due to the closure of more than 36,000 schools through out the country.
“CZOP requests all the concerned parties for immediately creating environment in which the children can entertain their right to education continuously without any obstructions,” the statement reads.
“In order to fulfill one’s own demand, the entire children’s fundamental rights shouldn’t be violated and their future shouldn’t be perturbed. This kind of violation of child rights neither can be justified nor can be accepted in any civilised society. Lack of proactive action from government towards tackling this serious issue is also of great embarrassment,” the statement adds.
