Bhaktapur, May 31: The Ministry of Education and Sports, Curriculum Development Centre has modified the curriculum for grade 10 with effect from the new academic session starting in the month of Srawan, 2057.
According to the centre, the new curriculum has categorised Nepali, English, mathematics, science, social education, health, population and Environment as compulsory subjects while Sanskrit has been made compulsory for Sanskrit secondary schools.
Likewise, history, geography, economics and optional mathematics come under the optional first paper and education, office management and accounting, agricultural education, home science, health and physical education, bamboo and reed skills and computer science under the optional second paper.
Sanskrit literature, Sanskrit grammar and Sanskrit astrology comprise the curriculum for Sanskrit highschools.
New curriculum introduced for twenty-one subjects in grade 9 last academic session will be given continuity in the coming sessions also.
A school curriculum was set during 2028-2032 B.S. in the course of implementing the national education plan. This was amended in 2038 B.S.
The centre introduced a new curriculum in 2049 B.S in order to make it relevant to the changing context following the restoration of democracy.
