Crown Prince Paras inaugurated the Tribhuvan Memorial Gold Cup Knockout Football championship at the local Mechi stadium Thursday, RSS reported from Bhadrapur.
The championship commenced after the Crown Prince handed over a football for the purpose to FIFA referee Ambar Bahadur Pokharel. The Crown Prince watched the match played on the first day under the championship.
Earlier the Crown Prince also inspected the stadium and granted group audiences to the instructors and employees. Nine teams from Nepal, four from India and one from Bangladesh are participating in the championship organized by Mechi Stadium Reconstruction Committee and the 15th Memorial Gold Cup Knockout Football Tournament 2059 Organisation Committee.
In the first match played Thursday, Jhapa 11 (red) beat Kharsang Football Club by 5-1 goals. Morang 11 will take on Jhapa (blue) in the match to be played tomorrow.
