Birendranagar, Mar. 5:CPN-UML standing committee member Jhalanath Khanal has spoken of the need for those who are engaged in murder and violence to correct their actions since there is an atmosphere to exercise democratic rights in the country.

Mr Khanal, while speaking at a press meet organised by the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (fnj) here today, said His Majesty’s Government should take the issue of Maoist insurgency seriously and make efforts to bring the Maoists to the negotiating table by creating a favourable situation.

Stating that people’s problems have not been solved as desired by the people even 10 years after democracy, the CPN-UML leader noted that though we have achieved political freedom, we are yet to strengthen the people socially and economically.

He also spoke of the need to utilize the vast water resources, natural beauty and human resources for developing the country.

Asked about personality conflict within the CPN-UML, Mr. Khanal ruled out such situation in the party and said his party is broad-based and has a lot of property.
