Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to hold rallies and mass meetings in four big cities in order to kick off its election campaign.

The party will hold mass meetings in Pokhara on April 9; in Biratnagar on April 13; in Janakpur on April 21; and in Birgunj on April 27.

Congress leaders have said that Prime Minister and president of NC Girija Prasad Koirala would address these mass meetings.

The mass meetings have been scheduled at a time when the eight party leaders are claiming that they will stick with the plan of holding the elections of Constituent Assembly (CA) on stipulated time – which is mid June.

Party sources claim that NC will put forth its agenda during these mass meetings. As such, these mass meetings could be crucial since NC is yet to clarify its agenda regarding the issue of monarchy. Till now, its leaders have said that they will make it clear during the CA campaign.

Importantly, the party has also chosen three Terai cities – Biratnagar, Janakpur and Birgunj – for the mass meetings at a time when the region is suffering from unrest.
