Hundreds of children whose parents were killed by the state security forces during the decade-long Maoist insurgency staged a sit-in in front of the Ministry of Education and Sports Wednesday.

With the slogan ‘Let us study and live’, they had staged a hour-long sit in starting from 11:30 till 12:30 pm in front of the ministry demanding that the government make necessary arrangements for their education.

The children were seen staging sit-in programme carrying empty bags as a form of symbolic protest. They later presented the empty bags to state minister for education Mahendra Singh Rathore.

Demanding that the government ensure their right to ‘live and study’ the children of those killed by the state have been holding phase wise protest programmes in the capital under the banner of the Maoist-affiliated All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union from the last four days.
