The Ministry of Information and Communication has urged the media to maintain restraint while reporting the incidents taking place during the street protests that have flared following the killing of 12 Nepalis by Iraqi militants.

Issuing a statement on Wednesday, the ministry asked the media not to overstate the incidents, which may promote sectarianism and harm the communal harmony.

The ministry statement comes following reports of extensive vandalism caused by protestors who, in some places, have attempted to destroy properties owned by Muslims.
