Kathmandu, 6 Janaury 2001: A cold wave has that has killed several people in India and Bangladesh has also affected the terai in Nepal, reports said.
A cold wave in Chitwan since Wednesday might affect vegetable, wheat and maize production for the second successive year in the district, the Agricultural Development Office said. Normal life in Mohottari has been affected by the cold wave as people stay indoors and attendance at government offices fell sharply in the last three days.
Mist has engulfed most of the terai from Rautahat to Nepalgunj in the west. Heavy snowfall has been reports from the hills including Humla and Jumla. Jumla recorded a -6 degree Celcius temperature Friday while the minimum temperature in the capital was 0.5 degrees Celcius.
