Kathmandu, May 21: Chief Justice Keshav Prasad Upadhaya said a person cannot get justice even if guaranteed by the law when an environment congenial to access to justice is not available.
Addressing a consultative meeting regarding the review of five years following the Beijing women conference, Chief Justice Upadhyaya spoke of the need for wiping out educational backwardness and poverty, changing the mentality of individual and generating awareness in the society in order to provide equal rights to women.
President of CPN-ML Sahana Pradhan said the commitments expressed by Nepal in the Beijing conference have not been implemented even five years after the conference.
President of ABC Nepal Mrs Durga Ghimire said girl trafficking for prostitution and cruel physical and mental torture against women in the name of witch have not yet been stopped.
Various other speakers including Saloni Singh, Dr. Chandra Bhadra and journalists Shova Gautam and Bandana Rana also expressed their views on the occasion.
