Chief Justice (CJ) Dilip Kumar Poudel on Friday appointed 51 district court judges and transferred 83 judges on the recommendation of the Judicial Council.

This is the first time the CJ appointed judges taking away the King’s authority to appoint judges after the parliament drastically reduced the King’s power.

According to a press release issued by the joint registrar of the Supreme Court, the Chief Justice appointed the judges as per Article 91 of the Constitution of 1990.

The Chief Justice appointed 33 court officials, 12 government attorneys and nine officials of the Law Ministry as judges of the district courts.
