CIAA submits report to PM

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) submitted its annual report to Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala Wednesday.

This is the first time the anti-corruption body has submitted its report to the Prime Minister. Earlier, it would submit its annual report to the king.

Chief commissioner of the CIAA, Suryanath Upadhyay, handed over the ‘Annual Report 2062/63 at a programme organised at the Prime Minister ‘s in Baluwatar.

Speaking on the occasion, Koirala lauded the role played by the commission in fighting corruption during these critical periods.

CIAA chief Upadhyay said cases of abuse of authority would not decrease without improvement in administrative sector of the country. He claimed the number of corruption cases has gone down significantly in recent years.

He, however, admitted that there was rise in cases of trend of forging academic certificates to secure jobs in recent times.
