The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has defied the Supreme Court order, by not furnishing details on the Mahakali Irrigation Project within the court-set timeframe of September 8, court officials said Friday.

Responding to a writ petition against CIAA chief Surya Nath Upadhyay, the court had issued show cause notices to the Cabinet Secretariat and CIAA to furnish explanation on the alleged corruption in the Project. The petition had alleged Upadhyay of his involvement in the Project irregularities.

The petition based its arguments on the report prepared by Dr. Bhola Chalise and on the findings of Public Account Committee of the dissolved House of Representatives. nepalnews.com mr Sept 19
