The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority ( CIAA ) has asked the government to stop doling out government funds to cronies in the form of financial  assistance.

The CIAA sent a letter to the cabinet and the finance ministry Tuesday to end the practice involving millions of rupees annually, a source at the investigating authority said.

The scheme first handled by the home  ministry was later implemented by the finance ministry after a controversy surfaced. Ministers, chief justices, party cronies and others have benefited from the scheme. Successive governments have been charged for misusing governments funds in the last 11 years.
