SYANGJA: A mountain bike competition that started in the district today has brought together national and international players.
Named as ‘International Mountain Bike Competition’ the event began from the district headquarters, Waling. It is organized by Wonderful Waling Tourism Development Association with the assistance of Waling municipality.
The competition is aimed at identifying the district as a place of adventure tourism, according to Association Chairman, Dinkar Nepal. The competition was inaugurated by Waling municipality mayor, Dilip Pratap Khand at Surkaudi area in the municipality.
A total of 28 persons including two times world champion, Mary Wallace and another foreigner are participants to the match. Association Secretary, Mohan Gurung informed that 18 players from Nepal Army and Armed Police Force have joined the competition.
The winner of the competition is rewarded with the cash prize of Rs 500 thousand.

KATHMANDU: Nepal Credit and Commerce (NCC) Bank has appointed Nepali cricketers Aarif Sheikh and Rohit Kumar Poudel as its Brand Ambassador for two years.
In a press meet organized by the Bank, Chairman of the Board of Directors Upendra Keshari Neupane said that the bank is ‘pleased’ to appoint Nepali emerging cricketers Sheikh and Paudel as brand ambassadors.
Ramesh Raj Aryal, CEO of the bank informed that the bank will provide Rs. 25,000 per month for the brand ambassadors.
Likewise, Jagat Tamata, Coach of the Nepali Cricket Team expressed his gratitude to the bank for appointing cricket players as brand ambassadors.
KATHMANDU: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) is organizing ‘C’ division league from today at its Complex, Satdobato. Total 11 clubs, divided into two groups are participating in the league. ‘A’ group has 6 teams whereas ‘B’ groups has 5 teams.
Swoyambhu Club, Kasam Devi Planning Boys United, Oasis Club, Manohara United Youth Club, Sano Gaucharan Youth Club and Samajik Youth Club are categorized under the Group A. Similarly, Birgunj Youth Academy, Khalibari Youth Football Club, Mahabir Studies and Athletics Association, Sanepa Club and Social Welfare Sports Center are placed in Group ‘B’.
All the game of Division ‘C’ will be played in Anfa Complex, Satdobato. The winner of the team will take away Rs. 500,000 and First Runner Up will bag Rs. 300,000.

KATHMANDU: Nepali athletes are participating in the Special Olympic World Summer Games in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) taking place from March 14 to 21.
Nepal will participate in the in sports, including the ‘five-A side unified futsal, bocce and athletics. The team will leave here for the UAE on March 7, Thursday.
KATHMANDU: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has unveiled a new logo, jersey and football song for the national football team.
New Jersey has a national flag on the back side. Similarly, ANFA logo is placed on the left side. In the chest-side of the Jersey of the national football team has the picture of Mt Everest. There are two types of jerseys – red and blue. The ANFA has changed the logo for the third time. Current logo is designed by Sandeep Tiwari.
Likewise, ANFA has announced the football song for the first time, composed by National Anthem composer Byakul Maila, sung by over a dozen singers.
Similarly, ANFA has signed an agreement with Spanish sportswear company Kelme. Kelme has handed over a total of 3, 788 pieces of football materials to the ANFA, including 515 pieces of men’s bibs, 1,097 football sets, 150 pieces of men’s pants, five pieces of shoulder bags, 1,706 pieces of football socks and 150 pieces of training jackets.
Kelme has sponsored the sports kit for the national team worth Rs 9,000,000.
CHITWAN: In a bid to construct Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium, Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation has collected Rs 55 million as of today.
Sitaram Kattel ‘Dhurmus’, chairman of the foundation said that it would take around Rs 3 billion for the construction of the Stadium. He informed that foundation has been organizing different programs in foreign countries to collect the amount.
The foundation is going to hold programs in Japan, Australia and the UAE in days ahead to raise fund for the construction of stadium.
KATHMANDU: Cricket Players Association Nepal (CPAN) has announced the names of cricket players securing their places in the nomination list under different categories. CPAN is distributing the prizes under 3 categories on March 5, 2019.
Dipendra Singh Airi, Karan KC, Paras Khadka, Sandeep Lamichhane, Sompal Kami have been selected under the ‘Cricketer of the Year 2018-19’ men’s category. The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs. 132,000.
Likewise, Indu Bharma, Karuna Bhandari, Rubina Chhetri Belbasi, Sarita Magar, Sita Rana Magar have been nominated under the ‘Cricketer of the Year, 2018-19 women category. The winner of this category will bag a cash prize of Rs. 66,000.

KATHMANDU: Raju Chhetri is certified as the best Taekwondo athlete, instructor and referee in Nepal. He is the 6th Dan Black Belt holder. World Taekwondo Headquarters awarded him with the certificate. Chhetri was granted 6th Dan Black Belt from the World Taekwondo Headquarter, Kukkiwon (WTF) in 2013. He is International Master Instructor and International Referee, recognized by the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF).
Chhetri participated as a Coach in the The World Taekwondo Hanmadang on 2012, 2011 and 2007 held in South Korea, 1st World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship in South Korea 2006, 2nd Korea Open International Taekwondo Championship in South Korea in 2006 and 5th Korea Open Taekwondo Championship on 2009 in South Korea. He also participated in the 17th Asian Games Incheon in 2014 in South Korea
In recognition of his dedication, service and outstanding contribution to the development of Taekwondo, he received Honorary Citizenship from South Korea Seoul Metropolitan Government city in 2013. He is also first Nepali Honorary ambassador to South Korean Pochen Metropolitan city.
