MADRID: Football Club (FC) of Barcelona beat Real Madrid, 1-0 in the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Saturday night. FC Barcelona beat Real Madrid in the Santiago Bernabeu for the second time in four days ending any chances that their traditional rivals have of winning this season’s Liga Santander.
Now, Barca is 12 points ahead of Real in the league table, and 10 ahead of Atletico Madrid, that played away to Real Sociedad on Sunday.

KASKI : Three Star Club registered fifth win in Aaha Rara Gold Cup Football Tournament in Pokhara. The Club won the 17th edition of the Aaha Rara Gold Cup Football Tournament in Pokhara by bursting Tribhuvan Army Club in a sudden-death penalty shootout.
Alan Neupane , the Club’s goalkeeper blocked a penalty shoot by Army Club’s striker, Bikash Khawas leading the team to a victory. The match was pushed to a penalty shootout after the teams drew 2-2 in the stipulated and extra time.
Army Club began the match with a goal from Tek Bahadur Budhathoki in the fifth minute. Later, the Three Star equalized the goal in the injury time of the first half with a goal in a penalty kick.
Three Star was awarded a penalty kick after Army Club’s Dipak Gurung committed a foul inside the penalty area.
Army Club led the match with another goal from Bimal Pandey in 15 minutes of the extra time. But Three Star again equaled with a goal from Peter Segun in the 22nd minute.
Three Star Club has received Rs 800,000, a shield and a certificate, while Army Club got satisfied with Rs 400,000, a shield and a certificate. Alan Neupane was declared the man of the match and was handed out Rs 10,000. Likewise, Three Star’s Anil Gurung was declared the highest scorer of the match and received Rs 25,000.
American basketball player Dennis K Rodman has asked US President Donald Trump to focus on maintaining peace in the Korean Peninsula during talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
In a letter addressed to Trump, Rodman has expressed his continued and strong commitment to assisting Trump in his talks with North Korea.
“My continued friendship with Kim remains strong – a friendship I encourage you to continue to use for your Nation’s benefit,” the letter stated.
The basketball player further stated: “You are in a cusp of a big, beautiful deal – one that could make you the front runner for a Nobel Peace Prize.”
KATHMANDU: Nepal has set a 117-run target for Kuwait at its final match under the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Region Qualifier being held at the Asian Institute of Technology Ground, Bangkok on Wednesday.
Invited to bat first after losing the toss, Nepal notched up 116 runs losing seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Nepal’s Bindu Rawal top-scored with 28 not-out runs including one four off 49 balls, skipper Rubina Chhetri made 22 runs including three fours off 13 balls while Kajal Shrestha contributed 18 runs including two fours off 16 balls.
In reply, Kuwait’s Maryam Omar and Priyada Murali claimed two wickets each of Nepal giving away 24 and 19 runs while Amna Tariq and Madeeha Zuberi grabbed one wicket each.
A total of seven countries – Thailand, Nepal, China, Hong Kong, UAE, Malaysia, and Kuwait – are taking part in the Qualifier.

Kuwait won the toss and elected to field. The match started at 8:45 according to Nepali time.
Earlier, Nepal had defeated Malaysia by 34 runs in its first match. Nepal faced a 57-run defeat at the hand of host Thailand in the second match.
Similarly, in the third match Nepal beat UAE by seven wickets and Hong Kong by four wickets in the fourth match. Likewise, Nepal thrashed China by five wickets in the fifth match.

KATHMANDU: Caribbean Premier League (CPL) of West Indies has conferred Nepali youth cricketer, Sandeep Lamichhane with ‘Breakthrough Star’ title. Lamichhane was awarded for his outstanding performance in CPL in the last season.
The Nepali spinner was associated with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots of CPL soon after his selection in IPL last season. He became successful to take seven wickets in five matches in the course of showing his outstanding performance.
Lamichhane is now in UAE for Pakistan Super League. He has played nine foreign leagues so far.
The rising Nepali cricketer who made his debut in Indian Premier League last year, has shown his outstanding performance in CPL, Global T-20 Canada, Afghanistan Premier League, T-10 League and Big Bash League of Australia, this year.

In the game played on Monday, Nepal gave a modest target of 78 runs to China. However, Nepali bowlers gave a hard time to Chinese batsmen to meet the target. Playing 20 overs, China could score only 72 runs, losing six wickets.

DHARAN: The 7th Dharan Run, which is being organized every year since the last seven years, is going to be held on March 9, 2019 in Dharan. The marathon to begin from the Yalamber Community Park will cover a distance of 10 kilometers passing through Tinkune and end in Bhanu Chowk.
The marathon to be organized by Newa Charity Dharan and managed by Key Entertainment (P) Ltd. is expected to be participated by more than 5,000 enthusiasts this year, according to Santosh Rai, the organizer.
The amount collected from the event will be used for social welfare, Rai said.
Dharan Run aims to promoting a healthy lifestyle among the youths as well as to raise funds for charity. “This is a means to motivate the youth and the younger children to live a healthy life,” Rai added.
The event is being sponsored by Nepal’s one of the largest steel companies, Aarati Strips Pvt. Ltd. Other sponsors of the event include Prabhu Bank, Yeti Flooring, Nepal Telecom, among others.
Age is no bar to participate in the event. The concept, in fact, was inspired by runs that Santosh Rai used to participate when he was in London. Rai’s initiatives has inspired a lot of youths in Dharan.
KATHMANDU: Pakistan has withdrawn its participation from the fifth edition of the 2019 SAFF Women’s Championship. The Championship is scheduled to take place in Nepal on March 12-22.
In the match, Nepal is placed in Group ‘A’ alongside Bhutan and Bangladesh. Likewise, India, Sri Lanka and Maldives are categorized into Group ‘B’, according to the All Nepal Football Association.
According to the revised tie-sheet, Nepal will play opening match against Bhutan on March 12, and the second match against Bangladesh on March 16.
