Dahal expresses sorrow over Bara storm casualties   Published on: April 1, 2019

KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property caused by the deadly cyclone that hit Bara and Parsa on Sunday evening.

“I would like to express my heart-felt condolence over the death of those killed in the Bara cyclone and similar grief with the families of the deceased,” said Dahal in a statement issued by his secretariat.

Meanwhile, Former Minister Dahal urged the government to provide due compensation to the families of the deceased and free treatment to those injured.

As many as 32 people perished and over 500 sustained injuries in the unprecedented cyclone.

 

NCP urges government for immediate relief and treatment Published on: April 1, 2019

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has urged the government to carry out additional rescue, relief and compensation measures to the survivors of last night’s rainstorm in Bara and Parsa, and ensure medical treatment of those injured.

Issuing a statement here today, Party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal and General Secretary Bishnu Poudel have also expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family while wishing for speedy recovery of those injured.

In the statement, the party has also praised the promptness shown by the government in rescue works that avoided additional human casualty.

Meanwhile, according to central member of the party, Nagendra Chaudhary, five of the injured have been brought to Kathmandu for medical treatment.

Prime Minister and Party Chairman KP Sharma Oli and ministers are going to the affected districts later today to take onsite information about the situation there, said the PM’s public relations advisor Achyut Mainali.

KATHMANDU: The central committee meeting of the Nepali Congress has been scheduled to be held on April 6.

The meeting will discuss the current political developments and the convention of its sister organizations, NC spokesperson Biswa Prakash Sharma said.

The meeting to be held at the NC central office in Sanepa, Lalitpur will be attended by the central office-bearers, central members and invitee members.

MORANG: Prime Minister K P Oli has said after the successful conclusion of the Investment Summit, Nepal would organize a conference on international research within the current fiscal year 2018/19 targeting youths.

PM Oli said so while inaugurating the silver jubilee ceremony of the Madan Bhandari Memorial Academy in Urlabari-3, Morang today.

On the occasion, he remembered late leader Madan Bhandari to be a real hero of the Nepali society.

He said that late Bhandari’s ideology is still relevant even after 25 years of his passing away, and that the country is moving ahead with his vision and ideologies.

Attempt to cast me as a criminal in the US went astray: Dahal Published on: March 31, 2019

KATHMANDU: Chairman of Nepal Communist Party Pushpa Kamal Dahal recalled his recent US-visit when some people were hell-bent on trying to cast him as a criminal.

“I would have undergone unfortunate circumstances had the US government not issued the ‘no investigation’ notice,” Dahal said at the 21st anniversary of Reporters’ Club here today.

The NCP supremo termed the appeal made by Tilak Shrestha, a US citizen of Nepali-origin, when he was headed towards the US for his spouse’s treatment there, as “unfortunate”.

In a tone of sarcasm, he revealed that a Nepali Congress-aligned organization in the US had even decided to prove him a criminal on alleged violation of human rights. “If this is the case, the NC should be clear that it was one of the parties to sign the Comprehensive Peace Accord with me,” he said.

KATHMANDU: Chairman of Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has stressed on national unity for steering the country on the path of prosperity.

‘We promulgated the constitution through an understanding among major political parties and implemented it through the elections. We still need national unity for prosperity,’ he said speaking at a function organized to mark the 21st anniversary of Reporters Club.

The former prime minister said that development was the need of the hour.

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Sunday said that the country was heading on a path of prosperity with self-confidence.

Speaking at the 21st anniversary of Reporters Club, the Prime Minister maintained that the journey of institutionalizing political changes has ended and the country has commenced on a new voyage of prosperity.

‘Despite hindrances, we became successful to institutionalize political changes earned through different movements. Now, we have entered the path of prosperity,’ he said.

The Prime Minister said the government has defeated all attempts to invite instability.

‘We will make Nepal a prosperous country in a real sense,’ he added.

On a separate note, PM Oli said that the recently-concluded Nepal Investment Summit was successful.

 

 

 

 

PM leaving for Jhapa, Morang today Published on: March 31, 2019

KATHMANDU:  Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is leaving for Jhapa and Morang on Sunday. He is scheduled to attend different programs to be organized in the two districts.

During his two-day visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate an engineering college at the Madan Bhandari memorial foundation, the silver jubilee celebrations and general assembly of the foundation in Urlabari, Morang.

Also today, he will inaugurate the State 1 level literary symposium to be held in Damak municipality and take part in a discussion on the proposed Madan Bhandari stadium.

On Monday, the Prime Minister will attend the town and ward committee oath taking and training program to be held at Damak Red Cross Hall. He will also inaugurate the livestock market in Damak the same day.

 

Int’l community keenly watching Nepal: Foreign Minister Gyawali Published on: March 31, 2019

KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Gyawali on Sunday said that the world has started to mark Nepal.

Speaking at function to celebrate the anniversary of Reporters Club, Foreign Minister said international community is closely observing Nepal. He added that Nepal’s status has heightened in front of international community.

‘Nepal is being recognized differently as the country is heading for socio-economic transformation on the foundation of socialism-oriented democracy,’ he said, adding that foreign investors attending the recently-concluded Nepal Investment Summit refereed Nepal as a rising star of South Asia.
