KATHMANDU: Weekly pay system to the employees should be enforced through the enactment of a law, according to Kalyan Gurung, youth Nepali Congress (NC) leader.
This shall facilitate cash flow in the market thereby ever rejuvenating the economy, opined Gurung.
“Our system of monthly pay adopted by the government as well as private sector means that money flows in the market once a month. In case of government school, the teachers get paid on quarterly basis a year which is not good for the market,” he reasoned.
Talking to khabarhub he stressed that this issue should be taken seriously in order to strengthen the health of the economy.
BHAKTAPUR: The Office of Controller of Examinations, Sanothimi, said it has completed all necessary preparations for the Secondary Education Examinations (SEE) beginning Sunday.
A total of 475,003 students from across the country are appearing in the exam this year that is being conducted under the federal set-up for the first time from this year. It will run until April 4.
Of the students qualified to appear the SEE, 238 thousand 558 are girls and 236 thousand 445 are boys and the highest number of students (10,602) are from State 3 while the least number (35,624) are from the Karnali State.
Similarly, 83 thousand 818 are from the State 1; 70 thousand 518 are from the State 2; 48 thousand 63 represent the Gandaki Province; 76 thousand 983 are from the State 5 and 53 thousand 972 represent the Far-West State.
A total of 1,969 centers have been set-up for the exams while 1,969 superintendents; 3,167 deputy superintendents and 29,535 security forces will be mobilized to conduct the exams scheduled from 8:00 am to 11:00 am.
KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gokul Banskota, has urged media not to cover news that promotes violence.
Minister Banskota made the comment while speaking at a program on ‘Community Radio: Policy Discussion’ organized by the Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (ACORAB) on its 18th anniversary here on Saturday.
“The government will take action against media houses spreading news inciting violence,” he warned.
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has said his party will not accept the security bill proposed by the government that has authorized prime minister to mobilize army.
He added that the main opposition party would not accept the bill that allows prime minister to mobilize army without a recommendation from Security Council.
“The day the parliament passes the bill, democracy will head towards an end’, he commented at a function organized by Nepali Congress, Chitwan, “The anti-democratic bill can’t be accepted”.
DANG: A person died when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a tipper (Ra. 1 Cha 346) at Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan City-2.
The deceased is identified as Gorakh Chaudhari, 33, of Dangisharan Ruaral Municipality-6, according to Prem Shahi, the chief of Area Police Office, Tulsipur.
Police said they are investigating the case.
KATHMANDU: A man died while two sustained critical injuries in a road accident at Ghansikuwa of the Prithvi Highway in Tanahun district.
The deceased has been identified as Santosh Rai, 25 of Tandi in Chitwan.
The incident occurred when a truck collided with three vehicles. The injured are undergoing treatment at Damauli District Hospital.
MORANG: Two people have died in a road accident in Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-7 in the district along the East-West Highway on Saturday morning.
The deceased have been identified as 47-year-old Ram Kumar Achhami of Arjundhara Municipality-4 and Prakasah Magar,35, of Gauradaha Municipality, said Police Inspector Kamal Bajgain of Area Police Office, Pathari.
The incident took place when the east-bound TATA Sumo jeep, Ba 11 Cha 7948, hit a cargo truck, Na 3 Kha 6918 heading to the same direction
Similarly, Yogesh Neupane, Babita Magar, Prabika Magar, Durga Magar of Gauradaha, Ramesh Tamang of Kavre, Hari Prasad Nembang of Miklajung Rural Municipality, Sumo driver of Damak Municipality -2 Kul Bahadur Regmi and container van driver of Chitwan Rapti Municipality-2 Laxman Adhikari are injured.
The injured are receiving treatment at Biratnagar-based Neuro Hospital.
SINDHULI: The government is posing threat to democracy through its march to authoritarianism, according to Ram Chandra Poudel, a senior Nepali Congress (NC) leader.
The majority government is working towards centralizing power through its grip on big projects, military power and state bodies, charged Poudel at a press meet organized here by Nepal Press Union. The government is a failure in regards to development and prosperity of the country, he said.
He also lambasted the government decision to ban the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ and demanded that the decision should be reconsidered.
Hinting at the government, CK Raut deal, Poudel said that no referendum can be held on issues that question nationality and democracy.
He also informed that the NC is launching ‘Madhesh Dialogue Campaign’. He went on to say that NC failed to execute the role of an effective opposition and in putting an end to factionalism in the party. “If time demands, I am ready to take the responsibility of leadership,” he said.
DHANGADI: Police arrested two persons involved in a murder case at Godawari Municipality-4 of Kailali district.
Ganesh Bhat, 24 of Dekhbhuli village and Gobinda Aauji, 23 of Godawari Municipality were held for killing Harka Bahadur Bhandari, 45 of Dasharathchanda Municipality of Baitadi district, according to Abhushan Timsina, police sub-inspector at the District Police Office.
KATHMANDU: While most of the districts in remote and urban areas are declared free defecation zone, Kathmandu Valley is still littered with the feces of pet dogs.
The roads and streets in the valley are foul with the excreta of dogs much to the chagrin of morning walkers.
Civilized urban people in the valley walk their dogs to the streets and roads in the morning and let them defecate on the walls and doors of neighbors’ houses without hesitation, thereby polluting the environment, a report in Gorkhapatra said.
The problem will remain the same unless the dog owners themselves become aware of it, said Raj Luitel, manager of The Kennel Club, Kalanki.
‘Dogs have no fault in it, but their owners.”
There are around 20,000 pet dogs in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City with 138,000 households.
