LONDON: Manchester United has upset Paris St-Germain (PSG) on away goals to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

Marcus Rashford’s 94th minute goal in the injury-time set the way for the United into knockout stage.

PSG’s Juan Bernat hit the goal against United in the 12th minute of the first-half following United’s Romelu Lukaku’s goal within 2 minutes of the opening time to equalize the game. He, again in 30 minutes, doubles the goals for the United.

Although both teams have equal goals in the aggregate (3-3), Manchester United wins on away goals to advance into the next level.

‘C’ division league kicks off today Published on: March 6, 2019

KATHMANDU: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) is organizing ‘C’ division league from today  at its Complex, Satdobato. Total 11 clubs, divided into two groups are participating in the league. ‘A’ group has 6 teams whereas ‘B’ groups has 5 teams.

Swoyambhu Club, Kasam Devi Planning Boys United, Oasis Club, Manohara United Youth Club, Sano Gaucharan Youth Club and Samajik Youth Club are categorized under the Group A. Similarly, Birgunj Youth Academy, Khalibari Youth Football Club, Mahabir Studies and Athletics Association, Sanepa Club and Social Welfare Sports Center are placed in Group ‘B’.

All the game of Division ‘C’ will be played in Anfa Complex, Satdobato. The winner of the team will take away Rs. 500,000 and First Runner Up will bag Rs. 300,000.

After 22 years, Ajex has been advanced to Champions League knockout tie. Real Madrid has been eliminated from the Champions League knockout tie following a humiliating defeat from Ajax 4-1 on Tuesday and 5-3 in aggregate.

Ajax scored the first goal into the Madrid post in the 7th minute of the first half. For the Ajax dominant win, Hakim Ziyech (7mins) David Neres (18 mins), Dusan Tadic (62 mins), Lasse Schone (72mins) have contributed. For the Real, only Macro Asensio gave the consolation score in the 70th minute.  Similarly, in the game, Real’s Nacho got the red card in extra time.

ANFA unveils new logo, jersey for nat’l football team Published on: March 4, 2019

KATHMANDU: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has unveiled a new logo, jersey and football song for the national football team.

New Jersey has a national flag on the back side. Similarly, ANFA logo is placed on the left side. In the chest-side of the Jersey of the national football team has the picture of Mt Everest. There are two types of jerseys – red and blue.   The ANFA has changed the logo for the third time. Current logo is designed by Sandeep Tiwari.

Likewise, ANFA has announced the football song for the first time, composed by National Anthem composer Byakul Maila, sung by over a dozen singers.

Similarly, ANFA has signed an agreement with Spanish sportswear company Kelme. Kelme has handed over a total of 3, 788 pieces of football materials to the ANFA, including 515 pieces of men’s bibs, 1,097 football sets, 150 pieces of men’s pants, five pieces of shoulder bags, 1,706 pieces of football socks and 150 pieces of training jackets.

Kelme has sponsored the sports kit for the national team worth Rs 9,000,000.

Barcelona upset Real Madrid Published on: March 3, 2019

MADRID: Football Club (FC) of Barcelona beat Real Madrid, 1-0 in the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Saturday night. FC Barcelona beat Real Madrid in the Santiago Bernabeu for the second time in four days ending any chances that their traditional rivals have of winning this season’s Liga Santander.

Now, Barca is 12 points ahead of Real in the league table, and 10 ahead of Atletico Madrid, that played away to Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Ivan Rakitic scored the only goal of the game and that is enough for the team to win the game.

Three Star Club bags Aaha Rara Gold Cup Published on: March 3, 2019

KASKI : Three Star Club registered fifth win in Aaha Rara Gold Cup Football Tournament in Pokhara. The Club won the 17th edition of the Aaha Rara Gold Cup Football Tournament in Pokhara by bursting Tribhuvan Army Club in a sudden-death penalty shootout.

Alan Neupane , the Club’s goalkeeper blocked a penalty shoot by Army Club’s striker, Bikash Khawas leading the team to a victory. The match was pushed to a penalty shootout after the teams drew 2-2 in the stipulated and extra time.

Army Club began the match with a goal from Tek Bahadur Budhathoki in the fifth minute. Later, the Three Star equalized the goal in the injury time of the first half with a goal in a penalty kick.

Three Star was awarded a penalty kick after Army Club’s Dipak Gurung committed a foul inside the penalty area.

Army Club led the match with another goal from Bimal Pandey in 15 minutes of the extra time. But Three Star again equaled with a goal from Peter Segun in the 22nd minute.

Three Star Club has received Rs 800,000, a shield and a certificate, while Army Club got satisfied with Rs 400,000, a shield and a certificate. Alan Neupane was declared the man of the match and was handed out Rs 10,000. Likewise, Three Star’s Anil Gurung was declared the highest scorer of the match and received Rs 25,000.

Pakistan pulls out of SAFF Women’s Ch’ship 2019 Published on: February 25, 2019

KATHMANDU: Pakistan has withdrawn its participation from the fifth edition of the 2019 SAFF Women’s Championship. The Championship is scheduled to take place in Nepal on March 12-22.

In the match, Nepal is placed in Group ‘A’ alongside Bhutan and Bangladesh. Likewise, India, Sri Lanka and Maldives are categorized into Group ‘B’, according to the All Nepal Football Association.

According to the revised tie-sheet, Nepal will play opening match against Bhutan on March 12, and the second match against Bangladesh on March 16.

SPAIN: Lionel Messi has booked the 50th hat-trick of his career. Messi has completed the score after beating Sevilla 4-2.

He has scored the goals against Sevilla in 26th, 67th and 85th minutes. It shows that Messi is never slow and still growing up in the age of 31. In all competitions, he has scored 33 goals in 32 games.

His third goal against Sevilla was his 650th career goal.

The winner of the match will bag the  gold cup with a cash prize of Rs. 888,000. Similarly,  the runner-up will win Rs. 550,000. The best player will have a motorcycle. The 29th edition of the tournament kicked off at the ANFA Academy Centre ground in Devinagar on Saturday.

Pulchowk Sports wins first match Published on: February 14, 2019

KATHMANDU: The Pulchowk Sports Club won the first match of Martyrs Memorial Football B Division League.

Pulchowk defeated Madhyapur Youth Association by 2-1.

Pulchowk’s Ram Kaji Kumal and Tikaraj Gurung score a goal each in the match played at the ANFA Complex at Satdobato today.

Ramkaji scored the maiden goal for his team at the 9th minute while Gurung made another goal at 35th minute of the match. Pradeep Lamsal of Madhyapur scored a consolation goal for his team at the 52nd minute.
