2 june, Rolpa- A woman has died after being buried by landslide triggered by heavy rainfall. The incident took place in Lugri rural municipality on Saturday afternoon when Gaumala Majhi, working on a canal in front of her home, was buried. She died on the spot.

Landslide also buried her home. However, other members of the family escaped unhurt. A dozer had to be used to recover the body of Majhi, according to the municipality staff Dil Bahadur KC.

The local health office building was also damaged while two motorcycles were buried in the landslide. The ground floor of the municipality office building has also been covered in mud.(RSS)

Woman killed by lightning Published on: June 2, 2019

2 june, Hetauda- A woman has died after being hit by lightning in Bungdal of Makwanpurgadhi rural municipality. Bimala Ghalan,26, of the same locality died on the spot.

Likewise, Kanchimaya Syangtan was injured in the incident. She is undergoing treatment at Hetauda hospital, District Police Office, Makwanpur.

Meanwhile, the house of Santalal Dong caught fire after being hit by the sudden discharge of electricity from the clouds. Just 20 days ago, a local resident, Fulmaya Pakhrin had been killed by lighting. (RSS)

Box office enforced in Lalbandi Published on: June 2, 2019

2 june, Sarlahi- Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Banskota has said that the box office system will help bring occupational purity and also a transparent society. Initiating the implementation of the box office system at the Bina Film Hall in Lalbandi municipality on Saturday, he said that purity in trade and business will make the state economically stronger.

The box office system also benefits and film producers and artists, he said while declaring that financial irregularities in the theatres would now come to an end with the new system in place. Minister Banskota also said foreign

advertisements in Nepal should have Nepali artists while the film hall should run for at least 180 days a year.
The box office system was enforced in theatres in Kathmandu a year ago. With the enforcement in Lalbandi, the number of theatres implementing box office in Province no. 2 has reached 10, according to box office coordinator Narendra Maharjan. (RSS)

Five houses gutted in fire Published on: June 2, 2019

2 june, Saptari- Five houses were gutted in a fire at Gauratole in ward no. 3 of Badebarsain municipality-3 of Saptari last night.

The fire that originated from the house of Rashindra Yadav due to an electric short circuit engulfed neighbouring houses of Kashindra Yadav, Jaya Narayan Yadav, Jogeswar Yadav and Dhruva Kumar Yadav. The houses were completely gutted in the fire, police said.

All food stock and cereals, clothing, utensils, a pumping set, poultry inside the houses were burnt to ashes leading to a loss of around 700,000 rupees. Nepal Police, Armed Police, Nepal Army and the locals worked together to put out the fire. (RSS)

2 june, Kaski- On the occasion of the World Milk Day, farmers and media persons were honoured in Pokhara on Saturday.

The National Commercial Animal Husbandry and Dairy Producers Peasants Society honoured Nagarik daily journalist Sandesh Shrestha with a cash prize of Rs. 11,111 and a letter of citation. He was honoured for his contribution to welfare and interest of the peasants through the media.

Likewise, the Society honoured peasants Jeevan Kumar Adhikari, Om Prakash Adhikari, Shobhakhar Bhandari and agro technician Sher Bahadur Tamang for their long contribution to the field of agriculture, according to President of the Society Dipak Prasad Timalsena.

Secretary at the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives of the Gandaki State Durga Prasad Dawadi and Society President Timalsena presented the prizes.(RSS)

 June 1 , Kathmandu: Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun who had left home on Sunday for Austria to attend the R20 Austrian World Summit in Vienna on May 28 has returned home today.

The Vice President had visited the country at the invitation of the Federal President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen and attended he various programmes there.

Seven-year-old child raped Published on: May 31, 2019

31 may, Parbat- A 19-year-old man has allegedly raped a seven-year-old girl at Bihadi rural municipality of south Parbat district, said the police.

Local resident Suraj Pariyar, a construction worker, lured the child and raped her some yards away from local Chandra Secondary School, said inspector Mitra Bahadur Acharya. The rapist admitted to the crime which took place on Tuesday evening.

The police arrested absconding Pariyar the same evening from Uram. The survivor has been sent to Pokhara-based Gandaki Zonal Hospital for treatment. Investigations are on, said Acharya. (RSS)

BPKIHS dealing with increasing dengue patients Published on: May 31, 2019

 

 

31 may, Dharan- Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) is faced with increasing number of people suffering from dengue.

The hospital is dealing with 50 dengue patients for the past three weeks, a health worker said. The patients receiving treatment at the hospital are from Dharan-8 and 15 being affected by an outbreak of the disease, according to Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City.

Following the disease outbreak, a rapid response team has been formed on the initiative of the sub metropolis, which is carrying out a study about the disease.

The team comprises coordinator of the rapid response team, associate professor at the school of Public Health and Community Medicine of the BPKIHS, Dr Bijay Kumar Khanal, assistant coordinator, chief of health section of Dharan Sub-Metropolis Ram Babu Yadav, Dr Prajwol Pyakurel and Dr Lok Bahadur Shrestha among others.

Maheshwor Rai, a rapid response team member, said that 41 dengue patients have been found in Dharan-15 and two in the BPKIHS quarter area. (RSS)

Haldibari rural municipality to get its own building Published on: May 31, 2019

31 may, Bhadrapur- Haldibari rural municipality of Jhapa district is to get its own building. Local-level representatives on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the office building of the rural municipality on one bigha and nine katthas of land.

Five locals–Santosh Mangpung, Maitraj Rai, Til Bahadur Subedi, Bhupal Limbu and Kharkamaya Samsuhang had donated the land for the same. The office building is going to be constructed at a cost of Rs 39 million.

Chairperson of the rural municipality, Rabindra Lingden, said that an agreement has been signed to complete the construction of the earthquake-resistant building within April 12, 2020. (RSS)

31 may, Pokhara – Educational materials and school uniform has been provided to students of Bahadure Secondary School at Bhadaure of Annapurna rural muiciality-4 on the occasion of Republic Day.

The Naulo Ghumti Nepal distributed the educational materials and school uniform to 41 students from poor financial background with financial and technical assistance of Good Neighbors International Nepal and collaboration of school.

On the occasion, first chairperson of Naulo Ghumti Nepal, Yograj Poudel, said that the support of educational materials would further help children in their educational quality and added that such programme of support would be continued in days ahead.

Kaski District Coordinator of Good Neighbors International Nepal, Tupendra Khulal, General Secretary of Naulo Ghumti Nepal, Badri Binod Khanal, among others shed lights about the importance of education and expressed the view that community schools should keep qualitative education in priority.

Likewise, School Principal Ram Prasad Poudel said that different types of support from the organisation including arrangement of library, smart room project and training have made significant contribution in daily teaching learning activities of the school.(RSS)
