16 june, kathmandu- Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli who returned home today after participating in the Centenary Session of International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Geneva, as part of his weeklong Europe visit, followed by his UK and France official visit said his Europe visit was highly successful. “The visit has been highly productive in further consolidating the Nepal-Europe ties.”
Talking to the Press at VVIP lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) upon his arrival today, the Prime Minister said, “We remained highly active during the trip. We raised the issues related to our policies, achievements, necessities, and aspirations in every forum in a relevant way.”
Stating that the 1947 Tripartite Agreement reached between Nepal, India and the UK had been much old, and it could not direct and regulate current needs, the Prime Minister said he shared the views with the UK that Nepal wanted to move ahead on the basis of bilateral consensus by revising the treaty.
In his response to journalists’ query, Prime Minister Oli said the government was doing its best to make sure the expansion of flights of Nepali airlines across the world including to Europe. “The issue was raised seriously with bodies concerned during the trip.”
Talking to media-persons on the bill, he said that the government would not go against the welfare, aspirations and wishes of the sovereign Nepali people. “The government, who values the people as god and hears them, works for their welfare and act as per their direction, is responsible to them. Correction will be made if there is any shortcoming.”
Sating that exploitation against the poor people is taking place in some places in the name of Guthi, he said, “The government is ready to make a review if there is any impact on Guthis related to tillers, lease, religion, culture and tradition.”
The present and coming time in the country was not for expressing temperament, excitement or engaging in conflict and agitation, but the time has highly demanded the culture of dialogues, consensus, cooperation and progression instead, he added, calling upon all to expel their belief that achievements were possible through only promoting the sentiments of protest.

16 june, Bajura- A 17-year-old girl died after she fell from a cliff here Saturday evening. The deceased has been identified as Sita Kumar Padhyay of Khaptad Chhededaha rural municipality-6.
The girl suffered the tragedy as she went to local Chulli Cliff to collect fodder for cattle. She died on the spot, according to the family source. She was a tenth grader at the Jalpadevi Secondary School at Pinakhel of Badimalika municipality-1. (RSS)
16 june, Kathmandu- A new community hospital is to be constructed in Chandragiri. With Rs. 30 million support from the State 3 government and Rs. 10 million of its own, the Chandragiri municipality is constructing the hospital at Matatirtha in ward no. 8 of the municipality.
The 15 -25 bed health facility will be housed in a three and half storey building. Other funds necessary for the hospital will be borne by the ward no. 8, said municipality spokesperson Haribhakta Maharjan. The hospital is estimated to be completed within a year and is expected to serve over 100,000 people annually.
Based on area, Chandragiri is the biggest municipality in State no. 3.
Laying foundation stone for the hospital at a function held on Saturday, Nepal Communist Party (NCP) senior leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said that the hospital upon completion could also serve residents not only of Chandragiri but also from neighbouring Dhading.
Mayor of the municipality Ghanashyam Giri said the hospital will help realize the citizen’s right to health guaranteed by the Constitution. (RSS)
16 june, Bardibas- Rising temperature has forced the local administration to shut down schools in Mahottari. The number of schools closing down is increasing along with the rise in the mercury since first week of June.
The Sonam rural municipality has issued a notice, closing down schools until June 21. “The intense heat made life difficult of students in schools, with the risk of health complications, hence we had to close down all the schools,” rural municipality Chair Raj Kumar Yadav said.
The Manarasisawa and Balawa municipalities have also shut down schools with effect from today. Other local level governments too have discussed to close down schools for the time being. There are 10 municipalities and five rural municipalities in the district.
According to the Temperature Measurement Centre at Bholasanta Chowk, the temperature was recorded to be 43 degree Celsius at 3:00 pm on Saturday. As a result, the local markets and government offices remain deserted. Daily wage labourers have been hardly hit.(RSS)
16 june, Lamki- The Janaki rural municipality of Kailali has begun a training to make sanitary pads for women in the rural municipality. The training has been organised to promote menstrual hygiene and also help them save money in the purchase of sanitary pads.
The rural women cannot afford expensive sanitary pad and this training will also help them become aware of personal hygiene during the menstrual period, rural municipality Chair Pradip Chaudhary said.
Vice-chair Uma Mahato said following the training the rural municipality will also support women who want to make making sanitary pad as a business. We would first want to promote the habit of using sanitary pads and will invest in entrepreneurship related to it as well, she said.
Hima Mahat, one of the trainees, said she will now be sharing her skills to other women in the village as well. “We gained knowledge about personal hygiene as well as the skills to make sanitary pad,” she said.
A total of 140 women had taken part in the nine-day long training.(RSS)
16 june, Dadeldhura- A school teacher died in a road accident that took place at Kurjina in ward no. 8 of Alital rural municipality last night. Teacher at Samaiji foundation school, Aalital, Shyam Kalauni,40, died in the incident, District Police Office, Dadeldhura said.
Teacher Kalauni was travelling in a tractor (Se. 2 Ta. 285) on its way to Kurjeni from Alital when it overturned and crushed him. Another passenger, Padam Rana of ward no. 8 of the same municipality sustained minor injuries.
The tractor driver Dhanjit Dhami escaped following the incident and a search has been initiated to nab him, assistant police inspector Bir Bahadur Dhami said.(RSS)
16 june, Khasyauli- A discussion was held in Bhairahawa on Saturday in order to make the national identity card, social security and civil registration effective.
At the programme, Director General of the National ID and Civil Registration Department Dipak Kafley said that the discussion has been initiated nationwide in order to facilitate the distribution of social security allowance, implement the national ID distribution programme and make management of civil registration more effective.
Stating that civil registration was essential in order to maintain integrated records of all the citizens, he said that the distribution of national ID card will also address tax avoidance and non-tax revenue management.
On the occasion, Chief District Officer of Rupandehi Arjun Pokharel said that civil registration has been a problem in many districts and suggested to maintain records of the foreigners also.
Deputy Mayor of Butwal Sub-metropolis Goma Acharya shared that the Sub-metropolis had begun its own civil registration programme.
The government plans to distribute the National ID Card in the form of biometric smart card in 15 districts in the coming fiscal year. The distribution began from Paanchthar district in November 2018.(RSS)
16 june, Lahan- Three youths have been arrested from Bariyapatti of Siraha in possession of banned drugs.
A team from the Area Police Office, Bariyarpatti arrested Sanjaya Kumar Mahato,31, of Lahan municipality-2, 21-year-old Rajesh Raya of ward no. 8 and Rabi Bhujel of ward no. 7 of the same municipality on Saturday evening.
They were coming on a scooter from nearby Indian market when police intercepted them and found the drugs including nitrogen tablets, according to DSP at the District Police Office, Siraha Apil Raj Bohara.

16 june, Syangja- Locals have come together to support their fellow resident Khum Bahadur Gurung, a resident of Waling municipality-9, who is suffering from failure of both his kidneys.
Also professor at Waling Multiple Campus, Gurung has provided Rs. 2.474 million at a function held here Friday. A fund raising committee had been formed under the convenorship of former Chief of the Campus Rina Rana.
At the function, Chair of the Campus Board of Directors and Gandaki State assembly member Mohan Prasad Regmi thanked all the teachers, students, social workers and those who contributed to the fund raising campaign.
Likewise, media worker Tikaraj Gurung was honoured at the programme. Gurung had helped collect Rs. 1.3 million from Nepalis living and working abroad.(RSS)
16 june, Darchula- The suspension bridge that links Nepal to India in Darchula is to be closed for four days for maintenance. The bridge will be out of service from June 16 to 19, according to Chief District Officer Shanker Bahadur Bista.
The Indian side had informed the Darchula district administration about the maintenance of the bridge. The condition of the bridge in Khalanga was deteriorating and was awaiting repairs.
Constructed in 1971 by the Indian side, this bridge is repaired in every three years. It serves as a lifeline, especially for Nepalis dependent on the nearby Indian market for daily essentials. Hence, closing down of the bridge will be a problem for them. (RSS)
