17 june, Beijing- Reform measures launched this month to improve traffic management-related services for the public have so far benefited over 3 million people.
According to the traffic management bureau of the Ministry of Public Security Sunday, these measures, including easier procedures for the public to take driving license tests, register for vehicle mortgages or transfer and make vehicle purchase tax payments, are part of the authority’s efforts to delegate power and improve regulation and services.
Such measures have benefited over 3 million people nationwide, saving them over 100 million yuan (14.4 million U.S. dollars) in just two weeks since their launch on June 1, the bureau said.
Traffic management authorities at all levels are also working with finance and tax agencies to ensure the reforms are carried out in an orderly and effective manner, it added. (RSS)
17 june, pokhara- Gandaki State Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, Kiran Gurung, today ensured effective implementation of the state budget for the fiscal year of 2019/2020. Some required laws have been made and others in the process, which would facilitate budget enforcement, he said at a press conference organised here by the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Kaski.
Emphasising the collection of internal revenue, he said the state government has prioritised transportation, tourism and agriculture among others for revenue collection.
Pointing out that 60 to 75 percent of vehicles plying in the state have been registered elsewhere, he said provision would be in place to register these vehicles in the state, and 25 percent tax would be waived in this regard.
The government aims to collect Rs 3.2 billion from new vehicle registration and renewal in this fiscal year, he said.
Stating the concept of forming development authority has been brought to make the development projects effective, he expressed the confidence that formation of this authority would provide important support to the completion of projects of national pride and significance in a speedy manner.
The state government minister for economic affairs and planning said Rs 20 million has been allocated to each election constituency under the electoral constituency development programme. He added that both state assembly lawmakers- those elected through the first-past-the post election and those elected under the proportional quota election system- would have a role in this programme.
Although there are 2,100 civil service posts in the Gandaki state, only around 900 of these posts have been filled so far, the state minister Gurung said, adding the state government would recruit employees even on contract basis for providing services and facilities to the people in a speedy and convenient manner through the implementation of the budget.
He said emphasis has been laid on physical infrastructure development for tourism promotion and the budget has been managed accordingly.
The Gandaki state government presented a budget of Rs 32 billion 134 million 792 thousand for the fiscal year 2019/2020 in the State Assembly on Sunday. (RSS)
17 june, Jeetpur- Schools in Banganga municipality in Kapilbastu district are closing for three days from today due to the scorching heat that has increased since the past few days.
A meeting of the Federation of Teachers town committee, PABSON town committee and the Banganga municipality education committee took this decision in view of the excessive temperature making life of students and teachers difficult.
Banganga municipality education committee officer Khim Bahadur GC said all schools in the municipality including the government, private, community, religious and early childhood development centres will be closed for three days. (RSS)
17 june, Bhaktapur-The National Examinations Board is set to publish this year’s results of Secondary Education Examination (SEE) by early June last week.
The SEE results however were published last year little early. The examinations board noted the results publication this time seems to be delayed some days due to re-examination in State-2 schools and inadequate human resource caused by employees’ adjustment.
Informing that students’ marks are being entered into a system from answer sheets checked, Board’s Deputy Controller Chetnath Sharma said the target is to publish the results by June last week.
Total 475,000 students had appeared in this year’s SEE examinations towards regular category. The Board is making preparation in a way to publish the SEE results in between 25-29 June. (RSS)
17 june, Melamchi- The second phase works under Melamchi Drinking Water Project have begun. As part of this, the government has started pooling land that falls within the project coverage area.
The government is effortful to supply water from Yangri and Larke rivulet to Kathmandu denizens through Melamchi drinking water project in this phase.
It is noted daily 170 million litres water will be supplied to Kathmandu through Melamchi in the first phase. Likewise, the government has set a target to bring 170 million litres each to Kathmandu from Yangri and Larke rivulet.
If these plans turn to be success, the water supply from Melamchi to Kathmandu would go three fold in capacity.
A public notice was already issued for the project-affected landowners in the surround of Yangri and Larke rivulet to receive compensation of land.
The District Administration Office Sindhupalchowk issued a public notice for he project affected people to receive compensation within 15 days, informed Chief District Officer, Goma Devi Chemjong.
The Detailed Project Report of the Yangri and Larke under the second phase was also prepared. The DPR to that end was submitted to the Melamchi Drinking Water Development Committee. Works are being expedited to complete the second phase project at the cost of Rs 30 billion within next four years. (RSS)
17 june, Chitwan- Balika Acharya, 37, Ratnanagar municipality-9 died when she jumped off the bus (Lu 1 Kha 6991) en route to Bhandara from Narayangarh at Chaubiskothi on Sunday.
She died while being treated at old Chitwan Medical College in Bharatpur, informed the District Police Office, Chitwan. The lifeless body of Acharya has been kept at Bharatpur Hospital. Police is carrying out investigation into the incident. Two dead bodies found
Two dead bodies were found in two separate places of Chitwan. The deceased found have been identified as Ram Prasad Tiwari, 80, of Bharatpur metropolis-3, Belchowk, and Durga Bahadur Chepang aged around 32 of Kalika municipality-8, Neureni.
Tiwari was found dead at Bharatpur-15, Fulbari at 5.35 pm, said the District Police Office, Chitwan. Likewise, Chepang’s dead body was found on the road side on Sunday afternoon, informed the Area Police Office, Tandi. Cause behind the death of Chepang is yet to be established, police said. (RSS)
17 june, Damauli- Employees at Bhanu municipality in Tanahun district have started wearing Bhanubhakta-era cap (Birkhe Topi).
The employees of Bhanu municipality which was named before the name of Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya – the tower of Nepali language – have started wearing the typical cap from Sunday.
The municipal executive meeting of Bhanu municipality took the decision to make wearing Bhanu cap mandatory for employees from Asar 1 (June 16). Rajendra Dev Pandey, Chief Administrative Officer of the municipality, said the municipal decision to this effect has come to force from Sunday.
“Wearing ‘Birkhe Cap’ has put into implementation to reflect the identity of Bhanubhakta era and get municipality visitors informed of the special attire”, he added.
As many as 100 employees of the municipality have attired them with Birkhe Cap, Pandey shared. Udaya Raj Gautam, mayor of the municipality, said the campaign was initiated to keep the identity of national luminary Bhanubhakta Acharya and make publicity of the traditional cap. (RSS)
17 june, kathmandu- Inferno caused by short circuit gutted five shutters at Tokha municipality-4, Samakhusi in the Kathmandu Valley.
The fire spread from a cloth shop at Samakhusichowk on Sunday had destroyed the cloth shop, three food shop and a vegetable grocery.
Deputy Superintendant of Police (DSP) Fanindra Prasain, chief of Metropolitan Police Circle, informed the fire that broke out at 9.00pm was doused at 10.15pm.
“We took the fire under control with joint efforts of Nepal Police, Armed Police, three fire engines and two water tankers”, he said.
He shared the fire has tentatively brushed off physical property of Rs 1.5 million. One drowns to death while swimming
A person died while swimming in a pool of Nature Club at Dhapasi. An unidentified person aged around 28 drowned to death at 5.00pm on Sunday.

17 june, parbat- Acute water crisis has surfaced at Parbat district headquarters, Kushma Bazaar, for the past one week.
Following the abrupt rise in mercury with the stoppage of rainfall for the past couple of days, the water sources are drying up. Even the crisis has been exacerbated when paddy plantation was being done nearby the site of water source.
Taking bath and washing clothes are the distant thing, even the crisis of drinking water has panicked the denizens in district headquarters.
The town dwellers now are compelled to fetch water from distant well, gorge and rivulet. Durga Bhusal, School teacher by profession, who has been living at Kushma municipality-5, Badagaun, said he was feeling odd to go to regular duty at schools when there was no water to wash clothes.
Shalikram Poudel, another local, said they are facing acute water shortage when there was no regular flow of tap water. “We do not have any option but to buy jar and bottle water for daily purpose”, he added.
Hotel entrepreneurs also have expressed concern over the growing crisis of water sources in the area. “In shortage of water, they are forced to shut the operation of hotel, said Sushila Kunwar, hotelier. (RSS)
16 june, kathmandu- President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said the Public Service Commission was expected to perform, in accordance with its constitutional duties, in such a way which could further foster people’s trust on it.
In her address to a special ceremony organised on the occasion of the PSC’s 69th year here today, the President was of the view that PSC’s activities should be capable of further elevating its image, goodwill and prestige and gathering public trust.
The Head –of-the-State said she was hopeful that it would use advanced technology by further improving the examinations system, through which competent and efficient individuals would enter the public service sector. The examination system should be revised being compatible with time.
Stating that the PSC’s work culture based on a schedule and focused on competency, impartiality and fairness was the mantras of its success, the President expressed the hope that the government and all bodies concerned would help make constitutional duties of the PSC more meaningful and strengthened.
“The PSC exam system has won people’s faith which continues to exist and I hope that it will get cooperation from all quarters to additionally boost its image and the level of its credence,” she said.
The Head-of-the State expressed her confidence that the PSC would play a crucial role in making sure clean, responsible and strengthened public administration in the situation when the government should own up a historic responsibility of building a prosperous Nepal based on justice and equality, and, which is free from exploitation
PSC chair Umesh Prasad Mainali said the PSC carrying a glorious history of around seven decades went through several ups and downs throughout this journey, but now efforts were being made to weaken it, the foundation of people’s trust.
Questions were raised for no apparent reasons regarding the vacancy announcements made by the PSC for local level as per the constitution, laws and established traditions, he said, adding that it, as having the status of the constitutional body, never imagined to act against the constitution and prevailing laws.
He was of the view that peaceful, fair, and pressure-free atmosphere was needed for the PSC to work by assimilating the spirit of competency, impartiality and fairness. As he said, online provisions are in place in all 77 districts to apply for PSC examinations and e-payment system has been guaranteed. Established on Asar 1 in 2008 BS, the PSC observes Asar 1 as its establishment day. The PSC remains as a specialized constitutional body. The five-member PSC board is headed by its chair. (RSS)
