20 June,yongyang- General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived here Thursday for a state visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).
The DPRK visit, Xi’s first as CPC chief and Chinese head of state and also the first of its kind in 14 years, came as the two neighboring countries are celebrating the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.
In a signed article published Wednesday in the DPRK’s mainstream media, Xi said he stands ready to work with Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea and chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, to chart the future course of China-DPRK relations and open a new chapter for the two countries’ traditional friendship. 20 June, Pokhara- Nepal Communist Party Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said the incumbent government could be reshuffled.
“Discussions have taken place on the ways to reshuffle the government to some extent after the budget for the fiscal year of 2019/20 was unveiled. We, both chairpersons of the NCP, will sit to conclude some issues. Only then, we will reach a concrete conclusion. We have not yet reached a decision to make any changes in the government,” said the former Prime Minister speaking at a press conference organised in Pokhara by the Press Centre Nepal, Kaski, today.
He, however, said that the Prime Minister’s has main role in reshuffling the government, and it would be done whenever he wants it.
The unification of the CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Centre) was a great achievement and it has been important for the country’s prosperity, added Chair Dahal.
A long consultation had taken place with the Prime Minister on the issue of concluding the remaining work of the unification, he said, adding that allocation of party central members and remaining tasks in this regard would be completed after the party secretariat meeting scheduled for June 22.
On Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal carrying out criminal activities, NCP Chair Dahal said there had not been substantial progress achieved by the team formed to hold talks with the group.
He added that the course the group has taken would not benefit the country and the people.
Likewise on the Guthi Bill, referring to the government having withdrawn the bill amidst a widespread protest, Chair Dahal said that the government was responsible for the people, and it would act for their welfare and on their wishes.
In another context, he stressed the need for amending and making changes in the Media Council Bill through a parliamentary process.
Saying problems have triggered due to lack of homework within the government and NCP regarding the bill, the NCP Chair said that future course of action would be taken in coming days in this regard only after holding discussion with stakeholders.
He termed the budget brought for coming fiscal year 2019/20 as encouraging and balanced. (RSS)
20 June, Panchthar- An unidentified group torched an excavator parked at Limba of Miklajung rural municipality-7 in Panchthar district this morning.
Police said that the group set the excavator (Ba 3 Ka 566) of Jwala Construction Service Pvt Ltd, used to construct Ranke-Rabi-Bhedetar road at Lekgaun, on fire.
Police Inspector at the District Police Office, Panchthar, Anil Kumar Poudel, said that the excavator was torched at 2:00 am. Reason behind torching the vehicle is still unknown. Police have started investigation into the incident, added Poudel. (RSS)
20 june, kathmandu- Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Lal Babu Pandit has said that donor agencies could not run their programmes without coordination with concerned authorities.
While inaugurating an ‘international conference on boosting capacity of local level’ organised by the Local Development Training Academy here today, Minister Pandit said, “Donor agencies and international non-governmental organisations should coordinate with the capacity building programme at local and state levels to run any programme related to orientation.”
The government was at work to encourage and enhance efficiency of employees and people’s representatives at local levels, he said, stressing the need for it to use its full authority and bring expected development results.
Likewise, the Academy’s executive director Pit Kumar Shrestha said the conference aims to share operation of local level being practiced by foreign countries.
The meeting will also focus on policy level arrangement, challenges and solution seeking surfaced in the way of building capacity of employees and people’s representatives at local level, he said, adding that working papers on capacity building, policy and rules and challenges at local levels would also be presented.
Some 100 people’s representatives and employees of the Kathmandu Valley have been participating in the conference. (RSS)
20 june, Thini- Construction of a road stretching from Thini of Gharpajhong rural municipality in Mustang to the Tilicho Lake has begun here. The lake is located at the highest altitude- 4,919 meter.
Infrastructure development office in Myagdi began the opening of track from Thini village of Gharpajhong rural municipality to Tilicho Lake. Earlier, 2-km long road from Thini to Tangdung was built.
Rs 5 million has been allocated for the construction of the road. State Assembly member Chandra Mohan Gauchan informed that the budget would be allocated in the next fiscal year as well to complete the construction. For lack of roadway, it takes more than two day’s trek to reach the Tilicho Lake from Thini. (RSS)
20 june, Solukhumbu- The Supreme Court has upheld the decision of Thulung Dudhkoshi rural municipality on transfer of teachers. A division bench of SC Justices Dipak Kumar Karki and Dambar Bahadur Shahi upheld the decision.
Earlier, SC Justice Prakash Kumar Dhungana had issued the interim order on June 7, asking the rural municipality not to implement the decision to transfer teachers.
On May 8, the rural municipality had installed and transferred 67 teachers at various schools within the rural municipality as per section 24 of Rural Education Act 2074.
Challenging the decision, teachers including Dilli Bahadur Khulal Basnet filed a writ petition at the SC on June 6.
Upon the recent decision of SC, the rural municipality chairman Asim Rai expressed confidence that the SC decision would help rural municipality’s campaign of educational reform. He further said even the honest teachers were facing problems due to some deceitful teachers. (RSS)
20 june,Jumla- Educational materials have been distributed to 61 students with disabilities of Janata Namuna Technical School, Mahatgaun, in Jumla district. The physically disabled students from class 1-10 have got the educational materials.
One hundred and 22 dozens of copies, 40 dozens of pens, 21 dozens of pencils as well as pencil cutters and erasers were distributed to the children, said social mobilizer of Karnali Integrated Rural Development and Research Center (Kirdarc)-Nepal, Jumla, Satya Devi Bohora.
The educational materials were provided under Inclusive Educational Promotion Project with financial support of Plan International Nepal and collaboration of Kirdarc Nepal-Jumla, added Bohora. The different type of supports provided at the school to increase educational quality of disabled students has helped them in their study.
Similarly, Field Officer of Kirdarc Nepal-Jumla, Nar Bahadur Shahi, said that 118 students of different rural municipalities were provided with educational materials as well as 95 students with poor financial status of Tatopani rural municipality also got school uniform and educational materials. 19 june, Sarlahi- Two persons were injured in a storm that hit Sarlahi district and surrounding areas on Tuesday night. Nanda Pasman was hurt when a railing of his house fell on him in the storm at Brahammapuri-5.
Pasman, 30, sustained chest, arm and hand injuries. Likewise, Lakhan Mandal, 57, was injured when the storm blew away the roof of a poultry farm at Malangawa-12, said the police. He has been working for the farm. He has sustained waist and foot injuries.
Both of the injured are receiving treatment at the district hospital, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Pratit Singh Rathor. Fruit and vegetable farming worth thousands of rupees were destroyed in the storm, said a farmer, Bajai Kushbaha of Chakraghatana rural municipality.
Meanwhile, a child died after being electrocuted at Ramnagar rural municipality. Rabi Ram, five year old son of local resident Ramsah Ram, came in contact with electricity in connecting a plug to an electric socket to operate a fan, said the police. (RSS)
19 june, Chitwan- Crocodile eggs collected from the local Rapti and Narayani rivers have hatched producing 151 hatchlings. Chitwan National Park had collected 284 eggs from 10 out of the 24 places from the two rivers where the crocodiles had laid eggs.
Park assistant conservation officer Ved Bahadur Khadka said 90 hatchlings were hatched from 171 eggs collected from the Rapti river while 61 hatchings emerged from 113 eggs collected from the Narayani river. He said the crocodiles normally start laying eggs in April and the eggs are hatched after 75 days.
The Park has been incubating the eggs collected from the rivers at its crocodile breeding centre at Kasara.
Khadka said there are only three male crocodiles in the two rivers which is not adequate for breeding purpose.
There are 470 big and small crocodiles at the breeding centre at present. One hundred crocodiles from the centre were released in the Rapti river this year. The Park has so far released 1,465 hatchlings in various rivers of the country. Seven hundred eighty five hatchings have been released in the Rapti river alone.
According to Khadka, 399 croc hatchings have been released in Narayani river, 35 in Kaligandaki river, 95 in Saptakoshi river, 41 in Karnali river and 110 in Babai river so far. He said although this many hatchlings have been released in the rivers, their population has not been found to have increased.
As per the latest census, there are 118 crocodiles in Rapti river and 101 in Narayani river. Khadka said the growing pollution in the rivers is to be blamed for this. (RSS)
19 june, Ranjha- Police have apprehended five persons for possession of opium weighing 18.5 kilos from Puraini of Nepalgunj Sub Metropolis-22. Acting on tip-off, they were arrested at 9:00 am today.
Those arrested are Rajendra Bishwakarma, 25, of Jajarkot; Sharmila Magar, 59, of Rukum East; Bir Bahadur Nepali, 24, of Jajarkot; Prithvi Bahadur Bishwakarma, 50 of Jajarkot; and Ambar Bahadur Darai, 59, of Surkhet.
They will be made public through a press meet this evening, District Police Office, Banke’s Spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police, Prakash Sapkota said. (RSS)
