Mayor provides computers to school Published on: June 21, 2019

21 june, Solukhumbu- Mayor of Solukhumbu municipality, Namgel Jangbu Sherpa, has provided 10 computers to the Chagesthan Secondary School in the district.

Mayor Sherpa handed over the computers in a bid to equip school education with technology. The computers cost Rs 1 million. Amidst a function organized to hand over the computers, Mayor Sherpa, viewed that every school must be technology friendly and it was not possible without the use of computer.

The Mayor further made commitment that he would continue assistance to the school in the days ahead, according to school Principal Rohit Kumar Karki. Karki hoped that teaching learning activities would be better with computer. (RSS)

41 Chepang children rescued Published on: June 21, 2019

21 june, Chitwan- A total of 41 Chepang children being taken to Gorkha from Rapti municipality of the east Chitwan were rescued by the local administration on Thursday.

The children from ward no 13 of the Rapti municipality were held along with 13 guardians from Godrang of Bharatpur while they were being taken to Chhoprak of Siranchowk rural municipality in Gorkha.

Chief District Officer Jitendra Basnet informed that they were held on a tipoff. The police post at Godrang was mobilized for it. Even a school principal from Chhoprak was held together.

The school principal admitted that he was taking the children to his village for providing residential study because his school had declining number of students.

However, CDO Basnet informed that the children could not be trafficked without the decision of child welfare committee. So, the children would be handed over to their parents and the principle initiated action with further investigation.

Superintendent of Police Dan Bahadur Malla informed that further reason behind children’s transportation would be sought with investigation. (RSS)

Stadium in every State: Minister Bishwokarma Published on: June 21, 2019

21 june, Kaski- Minister for Youth and Sports, Jagat Bahadur Bishwokarma, has argued that the country could not achieve prosperity unless the development in sports. So, government has given priority to the sports sector, he added.

Inaugurating the school level sports competition- ‘President Running Shield’ begun at Machhapuchhre rural municipality of the district on Thursday, Minister Bishwokarma informed that preparations were on to establish a stadium of international standard in every State and sports village in each 753 local levels. “We are still in need of stadium suitable for holding international sport competition,” he said, adding that the Kathmandu Valley would also have a sports complex.

According to him, school playground is another effective platform to produce players. So, upgrading of the playground and management of a sport teacher in school is equally imperative; and the government has allocated budget for it too, he added.

A total of 500 students in both men and women category are participating in the competition where sports as volleyball, kabaddi, athletics, high jumps and javelin throw would be played. (RSS)

Garbage collection resumes after three days’ halt Published on: June 21, 2019

21 june, Saptari- The collection of garbage at Rajbiraj municipality has been resumed after three days with the discussion and agreement between the workers and administration.

Municipality Mayor Shambhu Prasad Yadav, Administrative Chief Shyam Prasad Singh and trade union leaders in the district, Kedar Dev and Ajay Kumar Mehatar held discussion over the demands of workers. The workers had halted the sanitation activities as garbage collection in the municipality, posing demands as of incentives and materials to be used while collecting trashes.

Mayor Yadav, after assuring the fulfillment of workers’ demands, believed that they would return to regular work to ensure cleanliness in the municipality.

As per the agreement the municipality will write to every ward offices urging to provide mask, gloves and boots for the workers. Mayor Yadav also agreed to initiate process to ensure incentives to the workers as per Labour Act 2074 and Social Security Act 2074.

Chairman of All Nepal Sanitation Workers’ Association in the district, Raj Kumar Mehatar, also informed that the workers were ready to return to regular work after Mayor agreed to pay heed to their demands. Even a memorandum will be submitted to the Mayor coming Sunday for the implementation of agreement, he added.

For three days, market area, intersections of roads and public places were littered with garbage which emanated stink, causing sheer annoyance and inconvenience to the general public. (RSS)

Yog for healthy body, peaceful mind: Vice President Pun Published on: June 21, 2019

21 june, Chitwan- Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has said yog is an effective medium to achieve healthy body and mind, thereby resulting in happiness and spiritual peace. He argued that yog prevents illness in human life.

The Vice President was saying this while inaugurating the yog camp organized by the Patanjali Yog Committee of Chitwan on the occasion of the fifth International Yog Day. “Many people in the world are suffering from various ailments and searching options to be safe and become healthy and peaceful,” he said, adding that some people have made tremendous development both in physical and mental fronts owing to the regular practice of yog.

According to him, some experts were of the view that the yog originated from the conversation between Lord Shiva and Parvati, who were believed to have resided in Nepal’s Himalaya. The rishimunis (sages) in the Vedic era practiced and expanded the yog, the Vice President viewed.

He further informed that the yog was now spread to various countries- 175 countries accepted yog for peace and development. So, it is the day to remind that yog spread from Nepal to other countries.

The 69th UN General Assembly had announced June 21 as the day to mark the International Yog Day.

In the camp, Vice President Pun, his spouse Hastamali Pun and other participants practiced yog. (RSS)

All workers trapped in tunnel rescued safely Published on: June 21, 2019

21 june,Rasuwa- All 17 workers trapped in the under-construction tunnel of Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project here have been rescued safely, said chief of police in district, Bhagendra Dhakal.

Seventeen workers- 11 Nepalis and six Chinese- trapped in the tunnel closed with dry landslide last night were brought out safely within 7: 00 am this morning. Their health condition has also been examined by the local medical persons.

Chief District Officer Arjun Bhandari informed that the construction works of the project were halted for today because the stone fall was still sporadic at the tunnel entry.

A joint team of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force was mobilized for the rescue operation early this morning. (RSS)

The draw left Argentina with one point from two games and on the bottom of the standings with one game remaining in Group B. Argentina will fight against Asian champion Qatar for qualification in the last round.

7 children missing after vehicle falls into canal in India Published on: June 20, 2019

20 June, New delhi- At least seven children went missing after a vehicle carrying 29 people fell into a canal on Thursday in northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, police said.

According to police, 22 people were rescued from the canal and search for the missing ones was underway.The accident took place during the morning in Nagram area on the outskirts of Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh.

“Early this morning a vehicle carrying 29 people fell into Indira canal here,” a senior police official said. “The passengers inside the vehicle were returning from a wedding function and the driver lost control over the vehicle before plunging into canal.”

The police official said immediately after the accident, locals carried out rescue efforts and informed police.
“So far 22 people mostly adults were rescued alive but as per the information seven children aged between four and nine years are still missing,” the official said. “A team of national disaster response force (NDRF) has been deployed for rescue operations and divers are searching inside the canal.”

Rescuers said the strong flow of water in the canal was hampering the efforts.Officials fear the children might have died inside the canal.

“It has been several hours and there is no trace of the children, there is possibility they might have died,” the police official said. “We have directed the official in districts downstream to put nets into the canal so that if the children had been swept away by the currents, they could be recovered.”

Floods displace more than 7,400 in Uruguay Published on: June 20, 2019

20 June, Montevideo- Torrential rains in central and southern Uruguay in the past several days have caused massive floods and forced some 7,400 people to leave their homes, according to the latest update by the country’s National Emergency System.

The central city of Durazno is the most affected, with 5,299 evacuees, according to official reports. Defense Minister Jose Bayardi visited one of the camp sites managed by the military to help the displaced.”We have established a high level of experience (in the face of these catastrophes) which we have succeeded in institutionalizing,” he told the media.

Military troops will continue monitoring the situation because “there are many people who do not want to leave their homes due to fear of being robbed,” Bayardi said.

The National Highway Police also said that 12 national routes remain cutoff in different directions.Uruguay’s National Meteorological Institute said that between June 11 and 16, some southern regions of the country received around 270 mm of rain.

On Wednesday morning, the Yi River, which had been 11.8 meters higher than its normal water level in the Durazno area, was falling at a rate of 11 cm per hour, according to local media reports. (RSS)

20 June, Tehran- Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) on Thursday downed a U.S. “spy” drone in the southern Hormozgan province, official IRNA news agency reported.

The unmanned plane, a U.S. RQ-4 Global Hawk spy drone, was struck down after entering Iran’s airspace in the Mobarak Mountain region, the report said. (RSS)
