21 june, Chitwan- Two people have been arrested by the Chitwan police on the charge of their involvement in producing fake academic and character certificates of school and colleges. The arrested are Bed Prasad Parajuli, 19, and Sudip Paudel, 33, of Bharatpur metropolis-6.
They were apprehended from the Bindu Photo and Video Shop based in Buddhachowk of Bharatpur metropolis-7, District Police Office’s Superintendent of Police, Dan Bahadur Malla.
Police confiscated the counterfeit academic and character certificates bearing names of various schools and colleges. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the photo studio and arrested the two and confiscated a set of computer used to produce fake documents and three printers. The two will be tried under the Criminal Code- 2074 BS. Further investigations are going on. (RSS)
21 june, kathmandu- Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said yoga and meditation are needed to steer the country towards prosperity, civilization and peace.
He said this while addressing the ‘yoga practice and talk programme’ organized by Ministry of Education, Science and Technology marking the Fifth International Yoga Day here today.
PM Oli said Nepal should be promoted as the meditation centre of the world as our ancestors are the originators and proponents of meditation.
“Let us practice yoga to save ourselves from unhealthy thoughts. Let us do both our duty and yoga. Meditation saves us from intolerance and negative thoughts. The ancient sages and hermits adopted yoga as their way of life and they were healthy mentally and physically. Meditation and yoga are very essential in our life as they help in making life balanced,” he explained.
Stating that some ancient coins with images of person practicing yoga posture dating back to the Tetra Yuga have been found in some places which showed the ancient tradition of yoga, PM said sages like Valmeeki, Bishwamitra, Bashistha and Vyas observed their penance in the land of Nepal therefore making it known over the world as the land of meditation, knowledge and peace.
Minister for Education and coordinator of the International Yoga Day Main Celebration Committee, Giriraj Mani Pokharel said home work is on for including yoga right from the school curriculum. He said yoga and meditation are being promoted even to fulfill the campaign of ‘prosperous Nepal, happy Nepali’, brought by the government.
Ministry secretary Khaga Raj Baral said education on yoga was being inculcated from the school level itself to restore the culture of yoga practice at every home through the students.
Ambassador of India to Nepal, Manjeev Singh Puri stressed on the need of collaboration between Nepal and India for the promotion of yoga and meditation as these were a part of the oriental philosophy.
Head of Nepal Sankskrit University, Department of Yoga and Naturopathy, Dr Hari Prasad Pokharel hoped that the scope of yoga would expand as the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) has also prepared the course on yoga, naturopathy, herbal medicines and ayurveda, among others. He also said that a teaching hospital on yoga and naturopathy was opening in Nepal.
Dr Pokharel also called on the government to recognize the ‘Astabakra Geeta’ as the national text, saying ‘yoga for all anytime’ was in practice in the ancient times.
Swami Ananda Arun spoke on the importance of a healthy mind and a healthy body for dharma, artha, kama and mokshya. For this, it is necessary to do regular yoga exercise, he stressed. Yoga also builds mental peace, calmness and tolerance.
Chair of the Marxist Gurukul and yoga practitioner Sonam Sathi demanded with Prime Minister Oli for establishing a yoga and meditation study centre. He argued that yoga and meditation were necessary for conflict management.
President of Academy of Yoga Graduates, Dr Kshitiz Barakoti, yoga practitioner 75-year-old Surendra Lohani and representatives of Patanjal Yoga Committee, Patanjali Yoga Committee, Bagmati Boarding School, Mount Everest School, among various institutions and organizations demonstrated various yoga postures on the occasion.
The International Yoga Day started to be celebrated from June 21, 2015 as per a decision taken in 2014 by the United Nations Organization’s General Assembly.
The Government of Nepal had declared the 1st of the Nepali month of Magh as the National Yoga Day. The declaration was made on August 13, 2015. However, the Yoga Day had been marked in Nepal since January 15, 1980. Nepal Sanskrit University has been running a six-month course on yoga and naturopathy.
A morning procession was organised from Shantivatika at Ratnapark before the start of the main programme. The procession reached the City Hall via Bagbazar, Putali Sadak and Pradarshani Marga from Shantivatika. Members of various organizations working in the field of yoga and meditation participated in the morning procession. (RSS)
21 june, kathmandu- Nepali cricketers Sandip Lamichhane and Sompal Kami have been drafted for the ICC approved Global T-20 Canada scheduled for July 25 to August 11.
Lamichhane was bought by Toronto Nationals for USD 60,000, while Hawks Cricket Club purchased Kami for USD 3,000. The leg-spinner Lamichhane had set his value of a minimum of USD 60,000 in the auction, and Kami USD 3,000.
Last year, Lamichhane had played the tournament from Montreal Tigers. But for ace all-rounder Kami, this will be his debut match. Lamichhane’s team’s marquee player for the cricket tournament is India’s former batsman Yubraj Singh.
Last year, Lamichhane was bought by Montreal Tigers for USD 40,000 for the tournament. The total 12 Nepali cricketers had applied to include in the players’ draft list for the tournament. (RSS)
21 june, kathmandu- The session for respective ministers replying concerns raised during the deliberations on the Appropriation Bill- 2076 BS has begun in the House of Representatives from today.
The Minister for Land, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation; the Minister for Drinking Water; the Minister for Communications and Information Technology; the Minister for Youth and Sports and the Minister for Urban Development are giving replies to questions raised in regard with headings concerned.
Four days including today were set for the replies. For this, the Lower House has fixed the coming session from June 23 to 25.
The government on May 29 presented the details of its annual income and expenditures for the coming fiscal year in the joint session (National Assembly and HoR) of the Federal Parliament.
The House began discussions on the ministerial-wise budget headings and mentioned programmes from June 11. Prior to this, the parliament spent its three sessions from June 2-4 for general discussions on the estimates of government income and expenditure for the fiscal year (2076-77 BS) .
Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada responded to question raised during the general discussions which was followed by the endorsement of the proposal tabled, seeking consideration on the Appropriation Bill. (RSS)
21 june, Dhading- Five people were killed and 10 others were injured in a jeep accident took place today at Banjhguan of Galchhi rural municipality-6 in Dhading. A Bolero jeep (Ba 18 Cha 9408) en route to Bairni Bazar met with the accident after the driver lost control of it all of a sudden.
The Dhading Police have identified the deceased as Nanu Tamang, 25 and Kacnnhi Bhujel, 30 of Galchhi rural municipality-6; and Sete Mijar, 38, of ward no 4; Raju Ramtel, 25 of the same locality. They died on the spot while the fifth victim Samiksha Adhikari, 21, breathed her last while being taken to a hospital.
The injured have been sent to Kathmandu for further treatment after primary treatment at the local health facility. (RSS)
21 june, kathmandu- Socialist Party Neapal’s Dr Baburam Bhattarai said the budget for the fiscal year 2076-77 BS (2019-20) could be taken positively while analyzing it from the aspect of generalization and continuity of past.
On the commencement of the meeting of House of Representatives today, the former Finance Minister said, “Despite some improvements, the new budget came as the continuity of the past, failing to cause much excitement.” The former Prime Minister went on to say that a much progressive budget was the need of the hour and an ideological clarity was absent in the budget.
As he said, the budget should not be taken as a detail of the government income and expenditure. It should be viewed as a document to bring transformations in the country, instead. Sufficient budget was expected to be allocated for increasing productivity and making the country self- sufficient, but this part is less addressed in the budget, according to him.
Lawmakers raise plethora of issues Meanwhile, speaking in the ‘zero hour’ of the meeting of the House of Representatives today, lawmakers drew the government’s attention to the need of adopting adequate and foolproof measures to prevent the loss of lives and property from flood and landslide in view of the approaching monsoon, of providing adequate fertilizers to the farmers, and of the urgent need of controlling spread of dengue in Saptari.
Similarly, the lawmakers stressed the need of expediting development works and proposed projects like waterways and operation of Nepal’s own ship, formulation of an integrated policy regarding the projects of national pride, maintaining inter-ministry coordination, taking measures to reducing environmental pollution caused by the cement industry in Dang district.
Some lawmakers protested the killing of district political leaders of the CPN Chand group in the name of curbing violent activities of the Group, the disadvantage the withdrawal of the Guthi bill might have to some tenants tilling the land owned by some Guthis, especially the religious guthis, completing the remaining works of the peace process, the media council bill’s some provisions infringing on the press freedom and freedom of expression, among other issues.

21 june, janakpurdham- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population Upendra Yadav today described yoga as an integral part in building a healthy, prosperous and good cultured society.
He made this remark at a yoga camp organised jointly in Janakpurdham by Patanjali Yogapith Nepal, the Greater Janakpur Development Area, Indian Embassy, Janaki Temple and Patanjali Yogpith State 2 Committee on the occation of the Fifth International Yoga Day.
“Yoga is an important part in living a healthy and harmonious life in the context when the number of people falling ill and suffering from mental problems is increasing by the day due to stressful life.”
The Deputy Prime Minister said the Yoga has been in practice since ancient time and Gautam Buddha and spiritual leaders including sages had promoted it.
State 2 chief Ratneshworlal Kayastha highlighted the need of Yoga and meditation from its health aspects. “It keeps our mind and body sound and healthy.”
Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut spoke the need of practicing Yoga regularly in human life. 21 june, Bhaktapur- Federation of Nepali Journalists, Bhaktapur chapter submitted a collection of signatures expressing solidarity with its campaign launched to guarantee the right to freedom of expression and freedom of the press to the District Administration Office, Bhaktapur.
A team from the FNJ chapter led by its chair Pushkar Raj Budathoki reached the DAO and handed the collection of signatures put on a banner to Assistant Chief District Officer, Dilip Kumar Lamichhane. The submission was part of its third-phase of protest launched seeking the withdrawal of Media Council Bill registered in the parliament by the government.
The assistant CDO said the memorandum would be submitted to the Office of Prime Minister through the Home Ministry.
The signature collection campaign was launched on June 18 at Dudhpati, and it had the participation of over 200 people including journalists, civil society leaders and professionals, Budhathoki said. (RSS)
21 june, lahan- A woman who was injured after she was allegedly beaten up by two men over the issue of cutting down a tree died today.
Tetardevi Mahato, 53, a resident of Goth Tole in Lahan municipality-9 was injured after Asharam Mahato and his younger brother Sumeshwor Mahato of Lahan municipality-15 thrashed her few days ago following a dispute over the issue of cutting down a Sisau tree.
Though the woman returned home after treatment at the Lahan Hospital, she died this morning. Following her death, the Mahato brothers are on the run. The Area Police Office, Lahan said investigations into the case are underway. (RSS)
21 june, Bhadrapur- The number of youths mobilized from 14 local levels for various activities under the Prime Minister Employment Programme has reached 2,753 in the district this year.
The unemployed youths are mobilized for painting schools and maintaining cleanliness at religious and touristy areas. Among fifteen local levels, the youths are selected for job from eight municipalities and four rural municipalities.
Gauriganj rural municipality is however collecting data on unemployed youths.
As the youths are used for various local activities, it has given a message of collective campaign for development here, the people observed.
Among eight municipalities, Kankai municipality has been able to provide jobs to 946 youths. Municipality Mayor Rajendra Kumar Pokharel informed that those meeting the criteria after filling up forms for employment were provided jobs. The youths are given the responsibilities like maintaining cleanliness at touristy areas, raising huts, planting trees and assisting in management of religious activities.
Similarly, among seven rural municipalities, Buddhashanti rural municipality has provided jobs to 140 unemployed youths. Rs 517 is the wage fixed to each worker as per government rule. But, the municipality has added Rs 50 to each in it. (RSS)
