KATHMANDU: Nepali leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane made a flying start to his IPL 2019 journey grabbing one wicket in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday.

Lamichhane took wicket of Kolkata Knight Riders’ batsman Nikhil Naik and also assisted a run out. He ended his four overs bowling spell giving away only 29 runs in which his team Delhi Capitals won by three runs in Super Over.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals has posted a video of Lamichhane appearing in a fun-filled rapid fire interview in which the cricketer has referred Nepali cricket fans as a twelfth man. Watch the video.

KATHMANDU: Delhi Capitals defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by three runs in the Super Over after the match ended in a tie on Saturday night.

Chasing down the 186-run target set by Delhi, Kolkata managed to get 185 runs on the board losing six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs pushing the match to one-over eliminator.

Nepali leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane took wicket of Kolkata Knight Riders’ batsman Nikhil Naik in his first match of the IPL 2019.

Naik fell to lbw trap of Sandeep at 3.4 overs of the match. He made seven runs facing 16 balls before losing wicket to Sandeep.

KATHMANDU: Nepali leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane took wicket of Kolkata Knight Riders’ batsman Nikhil Naik in his first match of the IPL 2019 on Saturday.

Naik fell to lbw trap of Sandeep at 3.4 overs of the match. Naik made seven runs facing 16 balls for his team.

Delhi Capitals has picked Sandeep for today’s match. Sandeep was left out on bench for the two earlier clashes of the team. Nepali cricket fans were eagerly waiting to see the Nepali cricket sensation to kick off the IPL 2019 journey.

Delhi likely to pick Sandeep for the third clash Published on: March 28, 2019

KATHMANDU: Delhi Capitals has created a hope to pick Nepali leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane out of four overseas players for its third match of the IPL 2019 against Kolkata Knight Riders to be played at the latter’s home ground on Saturday.

The Delhi has posted a video on a Twitter, where Sandip is busy practicing. The video shows that Sandeep might have a chance to play in the third match.


Delhi had been keeping an eye on Sandeep as he played different T20 tournaments including the famous Big Bash League from Melbourne Stars. However, he was not included for the clash.

Delhi will be eyeing a win against Mumbai led by Rohit Sharma that has clinched the IPL title thrice. Delhi that was knocked out form the Group Stage last season is hopeful for a flying start in the tournament.

 

Football team returns home Published on: March 26, 2019

KATHMANDU: Nepali National Football Team that had reached Kuwait for friendly matches returned home on Tuesday.

Nepal had played a goalless draw in the first match while faced defeat 1-0 in the second match. During the friendly matches, six players debuted for Nepal.

 

Nepal to face Afghanistan in AFC U-23 Qualifiers Published on: March 26, 2019

KATHMANDU: Nepal is facing Afghanistan in its final match of the AFC U-23 Championship Qualifiers on Tuesday. The match will be played at the Doha-based Empire Academy and the official kick off time has been set for 9:45 pm NST.

Nepal will be in search of a consolation win after facing two consecutive defeats. Nepal had faced 1-0 defeat against Oman in its first match and in the second match, Qatar had hammered Nepal 5-0. Nepal is already out of the race following two consecutive defeats.

Sandeep unlikely to play against Chennai: Nepal’s Coach Tamata Published on: March 26, 2019

KATHMANDU: Nepali cricket sensation leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane is in India to play Indian Premier League 2019 from Delhi Capitals. His team is taking on the last season’s winner Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday.

Nepali cricket fans are eagerly waiting for the start of the match to know if Sandeep makes it to Playing XI. Delhi had left Sandeep on bench as it kicked off its IPL 2019 journey against Mumbai Indians.

While many speculations are being made on chances of Sandeep playing today’s match, National Cricket Team Coach Jagat Tamata foresees slim chances of Sandeep making it to the Playing XI.

Talking with Khabarhub, he said Delhi will opt for the same set of players as it won its first match this season. According to him, changing players in such scenarios creates pressure on the team.

‘There are slim chances of Sandeep playing the match as leg spinners grabbed wickets in the previous. It is tough for Sandeep to make it to Playing XI due to quota on overseas players,” he said, “Sandeep is a potential player and will definitely play in coming matches”

 

Nepal beats Andhra Pradesh by one wicket Published on: March 25, 2019

KATHMANDU: Nepali U-19 team registered a one-wicket win against Andhra Pradesh on Monday. The Nepali team is in India for preparation of the upcoming U-19 World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

Chasing down the 228 runs target set by the host, Nepal managed to get 230 runs in 47.3 overs losing nine wickets. Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel made 71 runs hitting six fours and two sixes. Likewise, Bhim Sharki and Sandeep Jora contributed 49 and 19 runs respectively.

Nepal all set for second friendly match against Kuwait Published on: March 25, 2019

KATHMANDU: Nepali football team is all set to play its second friendly match against Kuwait on Monday.

Nepal will be eying a win against the host after settling to a draw in the first friendly match. The match will kick off at 9:15 NST.

Before the match, Nepal’s Coach Johan Collin said they would attempt to stop Kuwait for a draw. It is likely that Nepal’s Starting –XI will be repeated for the second match as well.
