GAIGHAT: The state-owned Udayapur Cement Factory has made a leap forward in cement production in the last one-and-a-half years.
The factory is producing 18,000 sacks of cements a day with the smooth supply of power since a week.
According to Nawal Kishore Saha, factory’s acting general manager, the production output of the factory had gone down due to unstable power supply from Dhanusha-Dhalkebar transmission center during the period from mid-January to February-end this year.
He further shared that the factory is producing over 800 metric tons of cement on a daily basis following the smooth supply of power. With this, the factory is making annual transaction of billions of rupees.
As the power went smooth, the factory was daily producing cement worth amounting to Rs 30 million, the administration shared.
KATHMANDU: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) had announced vacancies for the posts of 50 pilots. The vacancies had been announced for the post of captain, junior captain, senior co-pilot, and junior co-pilot on February 22.
However, the national-flag carrier received only 26 applications by the deadline, a source at the NAC said.
According to Nawaraj Koirala, deputy spokesperson of the NAC, the corporation had announced the vacancies for 13 senior captains but only one candidate applied for the post.
The cause behind receiving fewer applications could be attractive salary and pay perks being offered by private airlines, NAC sources said.
KATHMANDU: The government is announcing foreign investment in 50 projects under public private partnership.
Investment Summit Nepal, 2019 slated for this Friday and Saturday shall be attended by total 650 foreign investors and their representatives from around 40 countries.
“An agreement paper for investment between both the parties can be signed within the summit period itself,” said Balaram Rijal, the spokesperson at the Nepal Investment Board.
KATHMANDU: The total amount of foreign investment in Nepal has reached Rs 169.23 billion so far, according to Naya Patrika daily.
According to the statistics maintained by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the national bank of Nepal, of the total foreign investment, 66.1 percent is reserved capital, 30 percent is paid capital while 3.7 percent is loan.
An NRB’s report on foreign investment has said that 70 of the total foreign investment is in service sector while 30 percent is in productive sector.
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has claimed that an investment-friendly environment has been created for investment in hydropower projects in the country.
The prime minister told so during the meeting of the parliament while shedding lights on recently launched ‘Water of Nepal for People of Nepal, Each Nepali is a shareholder of Hydropower’ program.
The program aims to generate 3,500 megawatts of electricity by investing Rs 698.8 billion in 19 hydropower projects including the Upper Trishuli III B in Nuwakot which is being constructed by the Nepal Electricity Authority.
GALKOT: National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina has opined that the marketization of local products through entrepreneurship would help in boosting the economy. He added that a strong economy would eventually bring prosperity.
He made the remarks while laying a foundation stone for a suspension bridge. The bridge will connect Baglung and Parbat and will facilitate locals.
He added that the construction of physical infrastructure would increase production and cease the supply of goods.
The bridge with 567-meter length will be set up over the Kaligandaki River at the height of 138 meters.
SYDNEY: Handmade bamboo stools (mooda) made by inmates in Nepali prisons, can be now purchased in Australia.
Katha Private Limited has launched the bamboo stools in the Australian market, it was informed during a press conference organized by the company on Saturday. At the press conference, Director of Katha Private Limited, Arun Dhakal said some 25 stools have been imported from Nepal in the first phase.
Also speaking Chairman of International Jhapali Society, Dinesh Pokharel remarked that the launch of Nepali products would help to create employment opportunities in Nepal.
The stools imported from Nepal have passed the quality checks by the Australian quarantine. The stools made from bamboo, used tires, plastics among others are of high quality, durable, attractive and environment-friendly, the company stated.
The stools available in three sizes can be purchased from the website of Katha and the Minto-based Namaste Minto Grocery.
The company stated it plans to promote and expands Nepali products in Australia through collaborations with different restaurants and cafes.
DOLAKHA: National pride project, Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower (456 MW) will be completed within mid-December, according to Barsha Man Pun, minister for energy, water resources and irrigation.
The minister made the announcement in briefing the press today following his inspection visit of the project site. Officials with the hydro project confirmed that almost 98 percent of the construction works of the project is over.
The Minister had obtained information about the project’s progress from the Project Chief, Dinesh Jung Rana and Chief Executive Officer, Bigyan Shrestha. He stayed at the project site for about three hours and observed the construction works.
“We have serious concern in this project as it is a very important project. I have focused all my attention towards completing the project in time. I am confident of the project’s completion within the stipulated time frame,” he said.
He added that this project has proved that Nepalis are themselves capable of constructing big projects by mobilizing indigenous labour, skills and capital.
The Energy Minister described the project as an important model project of Nepal.
BARDIBAS: Chief Minister of State-2 Lal Babu Raut has said the prosperity was a common aspiration of all Nepalis. Investors were encouraged to involve in the national campaign of prosperity, he said, sharing the information that the state government has managed tax-free investment for coming 20 years to create investment-friendly environment.
Inaugurating the 2nd Bardibas Festival 2075 organized by the Bardibas Industry Association here today, CM Raut shared that the whole attention of the state government was centered on the prosperity campaign.
ACHHAM: Private air company, Summit Air on Friday began operating flights from Dhangadhi to Sanphebagar. The company provides air service seven days a week. The airfare has been priced at Rs 3,350 per passenger for a 17-minute flight.
Dhangadhi is the temporary capital of the Far-west State.
“We have kicked off service given the pressure of passengers travelling between the routes,” said Summit Air’s official. The service will also benefit passengers from neighboring Bajura and Doti districts.
Nepal Airlines and Summit Air have been operating Nepalgunj-Sanphebagar flights. Nepal Airlines provides the service on every Sunday and Thursday.
