Cabinet forms high-level committee to look into protests

The cabinet meeting has formed a high level committee to look into and solve the protests of the employees of different ministries and other protests that are ongoing in the capital city.

Monday’s cabinet meeting formed the high level committee headed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Amik Sherchan.

Other members of the committee are Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, Minister for Local Development Rajendra Pandey, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supply Hridayesh Tripathi, Minister for Land Reforms and Management Parshu Narayan Chaudhari and Minister of state for Water Resources Gyanendra Karki.

The government’s move comes at a time when there has been protest of employees in various ministries demanding fulfillment of their demands.

The committee will look into the protest at the various ministries, departments and other government offices including protests organised by various groups and try to find out the solutions.

The cabinet meeting also decided to mobilize security forces to check the incidents of looting and robbery in various parts of the country and highways.

The meeting also discussed the issue of extortion and abduction carried out by the Maoists and various bills to be presented in the parliament.

The meeting also asked the government talks team to prepare for holding summit talks with the Maoists soon after consulting the Maoist talks team.
