Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa Saturday said that the expansion of his cabinet would still take some more time. He didn’t give any timeframe, however.

The Prime Minister, who was addressing a two-day conference of chairmen and senior officials of District Development Committees here in the capital, said the cabinet expansion could not be done earlier as the government was waiting for the participation of the political parties.

Taking the agitating parties to task for “trying to create disquiet in the name of protests”, Thapa maintained that the parties were not candid in their demands and charged them of making the situation all the more complicated.

“On the one hand, they are provoking the students to turn more violent and on the other, are seeking favor from Maoists,” he said, declaring that the government will no more be tolerant. The PM accused the leaders of “flattering” the Maoists.

Giving instructions to DDC chairmen, the PM urged them to do their best not to let development works stall.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Information and Communications, Kamal Thapa who also looks after the affairs with Local Development Ministry informed that the government has set up a high-level committee whose job would be to make effective the performance of local bodies.
