CA member caught stealing electricity

Police arrested a Constituent Assembly (CA) member from Krishnanagar, Kapilvastu, for stealing electricity on Sunday, Nagarik daily reported.

An inspection squad from Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) found electricity being hooked to Indramati Yadav’s house in Kapilvastu during a random check. Police following the NEA officials arrested Yadav and took her to the District Administration Office (DAO).

The DAO released Yadav with a fine of Rs 3000.

Yadav is a UCPN (Maoist) CA member elected from Kapilvastu on proportional representation system.

CA members are given separate allowance for electricity in addition to their salary.

NEA has adopted a stringent measure against those stealing electricity to reduce electricity leakage after appointment of Gokarna Bista as the energy minister. nepalnews.com
