Unidentified gunmen shot and killed Amarjit Singh, owner of Bagga Oil Store in Nitanpur-3, Bara district, early Friday morning.
Two gunmen entered into the store from iron gate of the store and fired two rounds at Bagga at around 1:00 a.m.
Bagga died while undergoing treatment at the Narayani sub-Regional Hospital, Birgunj.
After shooting Singh, the assailants fled the scene on a motorbike with the registration number NA 2 PA 5900. Police later recovered the motorcycle at Itiyahi of the district.
One bullet shell was recovered from the incident site, police said.
All petrol pumps in Bara were closed in protest of the murder.
Meanwhile, Bara Chamber of Commerce and Industries called for Bara bandh today protesting the shooting of businessman Abhimanyu Kumar Shah of Kalaiya.
An unidentified group had shot Saha, at his Munna Oil factory at Kalaiya Municipality-5. Shah is currently undergoing treatment in Kathmandu.
So far nobody had taken responsibility for the shooting. Police said investigation is on to nab the culprits.
