Maoist spokesman Krishna Bahadur Mahara has said a broad political conference should be held by dissolving the parliament immediately.

Inaugurating the fourth national conference of the pro-Maoist All Nepal Trade Union Federation in the capital Wednesday, Mahara claimed that the ruling SPA and the parliament had been conspiring against the people’s movement and the 12-point accord reached with them.

Mahara further said they would try to hold peace talks for one more round to resolve the political problems.

“If the government is not ready for that then we will launch a peaceful movement followed by a strong revolt,” he added.

Nanda Kishor Pun alias Pasang, one of deputy commanders of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), who attended his first public function in the capital, said the Maoist combatants were not ready to lay down arms before reaching a consensus on political issues.

The open air theatre looked packed with the participants of the conference.

Various cultural programmes were also organised on the occasion.
