Visiting British Foreign Office Minister Dr. Kim Howells met with Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala Tuesday and discussed Nepal’s ongoing peace process.

Emerging out of the meeting at Koirala’s residence in Baluatar, Howells said matters of bilateral concern and Nepal’s peace process were discussed during meeting.
Sources close to Koirala meanwhile said that at the meeting Howell stressed that there should be only one army with the state and made it clear that his country had no plans to offer military assistance to Nepal at present.
The British minister arrived in Kathmandu Monday on a four-day tour. During his stay here Howell will meet Deputy Prime Minister Amik Sherchan, Home Minister KP Sitaula, US Ambassador to Nepal James F Moriarty and Indian Ambassador Shiv Shankar Mukherjee, among others.
Director of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Adam Thompson, is accompanying him.
