Britain prepares a Rs.650 million aid package

The British Government has prepared a Nrs.650 million aid package equivalent to 6.5 million pounds sterling for Nepal to tackle the Maoist insurgency, the British Embassy said Wednesday.

“The conflict prevention package will be managed by the British Government, and will promote reform of government security structures, measures to strengthen human rights protection and the application of international humanitarian law,” the Embassy said.

The package includes the supply of two transport aircraft to the Royal Nepalese Army to be used in logistic, medical and humanitarian roles.

The military assistance was described as ” non-lethal.”

The final  package will be formally  announced only after  the government presents it to parliament, a press release said. nepalnews.com br July 24
