Bastola for enhancing ties with Bangladesh

Kathmandu, Jan. 10 : Minister for Foreign Affairs Chakra Prasad Bastola, who is currently on an official visit to Bangladesh, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Madame Sheikh Hasina at Gana Bhaban, Dhaka, on Tuesday.

According to the Royal Nepalese Embassy in Dhaka, matters of mutual interests were discussed on the occasion.

Royal Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Madhu Raman Acharya and joint secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Gyan Chandra Acharya were also present during the meeting.

Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Abdus Samad Azad hosted a dinner in honour of Foreign Minister Chakra Prasad Bastola in Dhaka on Tuesday.

On the occasion, Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Mr. Azad spoke of close and friendly relations between Nepal and Bangladesh and stressed the need to further strengthen them in the days ahead.

Minister Bastola reciprocated the friendly sentiments and called for concrete activities to diversify and consolidate relations between the two countries

In Dhaka, Minister for Foreign Affairs Chakra Prasad Bastola has said that there are big prospects for trade, joint ventures and people to people relations between Nepal and Bangladesh.

Foreign Minister Bastola, who was addressing the business community of Bangladesh at a luncheon meeting hosted by the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) in Dhaka today, urged the business leaders to seize the opportunities available in Nepal and take a pro-active role in promoting trade and joint venture between the two countries.

In view of the closeness of the two countries, he emphasised the need to enrich the content of bilateral relations with a higher level of commercial interactions.

At a question and answer session at the end of the meeting, many businessmen raised the issue of complimentarity of trade, enhancement of the level of trade with facilitative measures and smooth functioning of the transit route through Bangladesh, according to the Royal Nepalese Embassy in Dhaka.

FBCCI President Yussuf Abdullah Harun, welcoming Foreign Minister Bastola, expressed his commitment to expanding commercial and people to people interactions between the two countries.

Royal Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Madhu Raman Acharya was also present on the occasion.
