The army seized six bodies of Maoists in neighbouring Salyan district Friday raising the rebel death toll in a military counteroffensive against rebels in Rukum Tuesday morning to 188, the Defence Ministry said Saturday.
The insurgents suffered one of the biggest reverses in Rukum since they targeted the army for the first time last November in the on-going insurgency. The army continued to recover arms and ammunition stolen from the military during searches.
Three rebels died in a counterattack when army returned fire after being targeted in Dailekh Saturday, the Ministry said. A Maoist involved in destructive activities was shot dead in Sindhupalchowk Friday, an announcement said.
