The central committee meeting of the Maoists concluded with the decision that the issue of Maoist’s arms management could be raised along with the political issues.

The meeting also said that the government is violating agreements by raising the issue of rebels’ arms management leaving behind the political agenda.

The five day long central committee meeting held at the Kamidanda area of Kavre district analyzed the current political situation of the country and ongoing peace talks between the government and the Maoists.

The meeting also reached to the conclusion that Maoist’s arms is not the obstacle for the peace process.

Stating that efforts are being made to violate the ongoing ceasefire agreement, the meeting also concluded that the party is cautious in this regard.

The meeting also made the decision to find consensus in some political issues of the interim constitution by holding the high level meeting between the top leaders of the ruling seven party alliance and the Maoists.

The meeting also said that the party would launch urban movement if there were attempts to foil the peace talks.

The party is making public the decisions of the central committee by holding press conference in the capital on Saturday.

Talking to Nepalnews, one of the members of the Maoist talks team and central committee member Dinanath Sharma said that the meeting discussed the current political situation of the country.

He informed that the party seriously discussed attempts from some regressive forces and some international forces especially America to foil the ongoing peace process and decided to move ahead foiling such attempts.

“We made the decision to take the ongoing peace talks to its logical end, but the government side is breaching the historic eight point agreement and other agreements, so the future of the talks depends on the behaviour of the government,” he added.

According to Sharma, the meeting also discussed the fact that the government is collecting arms from other countries even during the period of ceasefire.

“One helicopter carrying Israeli made arms for Nepali army was found in Ilahabad of India, which is a part of great conspiracy against the peace talks,” Sharma added

Sharma informed that the central committee meeting has also described the eight point agreement reached between the ruling seven party alliance and the Maoists as an historic one.

“If the government moves to the tune of some regressive forces and America against the people’s aspiration, the people will revolt to fulfill their desires for change and we will definitely accompany the people, and the central committee meeting also made the decision,” Sharma added.

Stating that the Maoists had proposed to give full shape to the interim constitution in the Godawari meeting, Sharma said the meeting had decided to resolve the political issues of the interim constitution through the high level talks between the government and the Maoists.

“We will work seriously to take the ongoing talks to the logical end and give peaceful outlet to the Maoist insurgency, but if the government works differently, we will be compelled to take various measures to pressurize it to move as per people’s aspiration,” Sharma added.
