ANFTU to lift closure of industries if its demands are addressed: Reports

Leader of the pro-Maoist trade union – ANFTU- that has called closure of 47 leading industries in Nepal, has said that his union was ready to lift the closure of industries if the government and industrialists were ready to meet its demands.

Kathmandu based Rajdhani daily carried a front-page report on Sunday, citing the letter sent to the government and FNCCI by the ANFTU President Shalik Ram Jamarkattel. According to the report, ANFTU sent the letter to the government and FNCCI on Saturday via the peace mediators and rights activists.

The ANFTU’s major demands to the government include making public whereabouts of its workers and leaders who have allegedly disappeared from the government custody, compensations to those who were killed by the state and removal of terrorists tag imposed on them.

Similarly, the ANFTU has demanded to the FNCCI to increase salary and benefits of the workers, formulate separate workers’ policy and issuance of contract paper to the employees, provide 10 percent service money pay to the hotel based workers among others. nepalnews.com pd Sep 12 04
