East Asia power house Japan hammered Nepalese rookies 6-0 to provide a football tutorial to join another competition contender Korea on top in the AFC U-17 Championship in Jelan Besar Stadium, Singapore on Sunday.
Nepal’s bitter fairy tale was sketched via Bikash Singh Chhetri, who netted an own goal early in the 8th minute to provide green signal to the Japanese side. Four minutes later, Tomokato Okamoto made it 2-0 before Jin Hanoto grabbed a brace in the 68th and 78th minutes and Kota Mizunuma capped the landslide win with a double in the 80th and 90th minute.
Nepal’s misery was compounded when they were forced to play with ten men for the last five minutes after the dismissal of skipper-cum-midfielder Ranjit Shrestha.
Nepal takes on the Republic of Korea next while Japan will clash with Singapore on September 5.
