The Nepali U-17 national team bounced back from 0-6 and 0-2 losses to hold hosts Singapore to a 0-0 tie in its last match of the AFC U-17 Championship to collect some sympathy over its humiliating defeat at the hands of East Asian powerhouses.
The result came as a great relief to coach Raju Shakya as Nepal succeeded to manage a single point in the tournament.
Shakya opted to field an attacking line up and played aggressively from the start. Singapore, which held Japan to a draw, seemed less-tactical and powerless in front of wounded Nepali colts.
After suffering a 0-6 defeat at the hands of Japan, the Nepali team managed to come back in its second match, but went down 0-2 despite playing a good game against Korea.
The team finally bounced back and played an excellent game to hold the hosts to a draw. However, they missed several goal scoring chances throughout the match. In-form Anil Ojha and Bharat Khawas wasted many goal scoring chances.
In other match, Japan qualified for second round with 3-2 win over Korea, which had already qualified for the second round with two big wins.
