Kunio Senga, Director General of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) responsible for Bank’s South Asia Department (SARD) is to arrive Kathmandu on Thursday for a three-day visit.
According to a press statement issued by the ADB on Wednesday, Senga will hold meetings with the Prime Minister, Finance Minister, other members of the cabinet and senior government officials during his stay in Nepal.
He will hold discussion on the country’s peace process and the improved environment for development in light of the recent political changes in the country.
During his meetings with the Finance Minister and senior government officials, Senga will consult on the government’s budget priorities unveiled recently, medium-term reform and development issues and ADB’s ongoing assistance and possible new assistance commitments for 2006-07.
He will also meet SAARC secretary general Lyonpo Chenkyab Dorji and representatives of other development partners to discuss development and regional cooperation issues and visit ADB-assisted project sites.
ADB is one of the major donors to Nepal in development, poverty reduction and good governance programmes.
