Kathmandu, Mar. 16: Nepal Engineers’ Association has described as “Biased” the action taken by the commission for the investigation of abuse of authority against regional director of the Roads Department Central Regional Roads Directorate no- 2 (Min Bhavan) Eng. Shyam Prasad Adhikari on charges of irregularities in a tender approval.
A communiqué distributed at a press conference held here recently by the association says it would not be quite proper for the commission to demand the deposit of a large some from an employee in question without giving appropriate time to him who co-operated the commission by being present on appointed time.
The communiqué has also called on the unit concerned not to take any decision on the tender unless the government resolves the problem within 15 days.
At the press conference, engineer Adhikari contended that a quotation for bitumen purchase had been called in accordance with the financial administration regulation- 2056 BS. And the tender awarded to the lowest bidder.
Engineer Adhikari who was taken into custody for failure to make a deposit was released on bail of Rs 4.6 million, it was disclosed at the press meet.
Chairman of the association Yuba Raj Sharma, general secretary Hari Darshan Shrestha, Ex-Chairman Chet Prasad Bhattarai and other office-bearers answered the questions posed by the mediamen.
