Kathmandu, Nov.9: Altogether 49 films, documentaries and features will be screened in the capital for four days beginning December 1 at an international film festival organized by Himal Association (HA), organizers said.
The 49 films have been selected from a total of 102 entries. A film on the search for the body of the legendary Everest climber George Leigh Mallory in Tibet will also be screened. Some believe Mallory may have climbed Mount Everest, the world’s tallest peak, before Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa.
Climbers have made at least two failed bids to recover Mallory’s camera to prove the theory; his body has been sighted and other personal effects recovered. The theory will remain only a claim until the camera’s recovery. A Viewers Choice Award will be given to the film adjudged the the best for overall excellence by viewers.
