The Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) led by Jay Krishna Goit has announced to halt all its military actions, including extortion and abductions from today.
Issuing a press statement on Sunday, Saptari district coordinator of the JTMM Shyam said that the group had suspended all its military actions, reports said.
Shyam further said that the decision was taken in a bid to ‘unmask’ the criminal groups who have been involved in killings, abductions and extortions posing as JTMM members.
Though the government has asked the faction for talks to resolve their issues, the faction is yet to accept the government’s call for talks.
On Saturday, Jwala Singh-led JTMM announced to resume military actions following three weeks of unilateral ceasefire.
Both the factions of the JTMM have been engaged in armed struggle in Terai region demanding that Terai be declared an autonomous state with right to self-determination.
