The cabinet meeting on Monday adopted the recommendations made by Oli committee over the next course of action the government needs to take to implement the suggestions for actions made by Rayamajhi Commission against persons accused of repression against people’s movement.

The cabinet decided to instruct the concerned departments to take departmental action against the persons named guilty in the Rayamajhi Commission report, according to government spokesperson Dilendra Prasad Badu.
Badu added that in case of political figures, the cabinet has decided to move forward as per political understanding. The Rayamajhi Commission has even pointed out that King, in his capacity as then chairman of Council of Ministers, was responsible for the repression.
The Oli committee had been formed headed by deputy prime minister KP Oli to study the recommendations made by Rayamajhi Commission and suggest the government over the next course of action. The Rayamajhi Commission has named over 200 persons as guilty of various counts of repression, abuse of authority, rights abuse or misappropriation of state fund during the royal regime.
