One dies in Parsa shootout; five abducted in Jhapa

One person was killed and more than six houses were set afire in a clash in Parsa district Monday morning.

According to reports, one Nagendra Shahkewat of Janaki Tole died in a shootout that resulted following personal dispute. More than six houses were set ablaze after the incident.

Meanwhile, over a dozen locals were injured in a scuffle in Udaypur Sunday night.

They were wounded while they were trying to retaliate against an attack by an armed gang in a settlement of Dalit and Indigenous people in Hadaiya in Katari, Udaypur.

In another incident, an armed group claiming to be ‘Maoists’ abducted five local residents from Durgapur Bazaar of Jhapa Monday morning.

According to radio reports, a group of five armed men abducted the five persons from Durgapur Bazaar in Ghailadubba VDC at around 9 am and took them to an unknown location.

According to locals, the armed men abducted the five locals saying they needed to question them.
